Around the World Embassy Open House - Visit Embassies for FREE!

Details
Meet People - See Places - Learn Things - Have Fun - with one of our signature events of the year - the Around the World Embassy Open House! More than 40 embassies will open their doors to DC visitors and residents on Saturday, May 5. Participants can travel the world as they experience the food, art, dance, fashion, and music of different countries.
The advantage of coming with us is that we’ve participated in this event many times and can guide you through the crowds to visit the best locations. We’ll also hand out our Meetup name stickers so you can meet people, tell who is in our group, and remember the names of your fellow embassy travelers.
This event is open to the public and all are welcome including individuals, couples, groups and children. No tickets are required - just show up. Although signing up helps us determine attendance and allows you to stay informed of event updates.
Guests are free to come along with us in a “buffet-style” event, visiting the embassies we select, or venture off on their own since there will be over 40 embassies open. Participants are also free to arrive and depart whenever they like.
Weather: This event is mostly indoors and will take place rain (which will reduce the crowds) or shine.

Throughout the day look for people wearing our Meetup name stickers, which we’ll hand out.

Tips:
Be appreciative and respectful of your embassy hosts at all times!
Bring your id and be prepared for potential airport style security screenings
Wear comfortable walking shoes
Observe traffic signs and signals
Free food is often available but is sometimes accompanied by lengthy lines - paid food options with shorter lines are often a good investment to save time
Have fun!
Additional Questions: Anything that can’t be answered by the above event description, Google, or common sense please let us know.
