Recently Google launched 'Android Things', an Android-based device OS for the Internet of Things. Google released a developer's preview of 'Android Things'. Even though nascent, it gives a glimpse of its possibilities. We'll present an overview of the operating system, including:

  1. Some advantages and disadvantages

  2. Currently supported hardware

  3. Setting up a Raspberry Pi, as the "thing"

  4. The development environment (hint: mostly Android Studio)

  5. The programming framework

There will be a demo of blinking an LED, detecting a button press, and logging a button press.
