The August DORBA Beginner Clinic will be at the LB Houston Trail in the NW Dallas/ Las Colinas area
When: August 10th at 8:30am
What: There is a "classroom" for about an hour or so, a mini-skills workshop for 30 minutes, and then a ride of an hour or more. So count on approximately 2.5 hours.
Why: The clinic is recommended for riders new to the sport. If you have never ridden a Mountain Bike before or have just started out riding, then this is for you. Beginner Clinics will consist of basic instruction including bike setup, safety, trail etiquette, bike handling skills such as climbing, descending, cornering, obstacles, etc. There will be a ride after the instructional portion of the clinic.
Who: You do NOT need to be a DORBA member or FWMBA member to attend. You WILL be told why you should consider joining one of these clubs. We DO require that you bring and use your helmet and strongly advise you to bring water. If you do not agree with our helmet requirement you will not be allowed to participate. This clinic is free of charge to anyone with a good attitude.
Where: Please note.... LB Houston has THREE Trailheads... we are meeting at the trailhead on Wildwood, not the old trailhead on California Crossing. Look at this Google Map: http://goo.gl/maps/PFLJb
Here are the GPS Coordinaes: 32.858194,-96.915872
Requirements: Please download, print, sign, and bring with you the following required DORBA Event Waiver: http://files.meetup.com/3841722/NEW-WAIVER.pdf We will have a few there if you forget. Please don't forget it, but we will have a few extra on hand if you do. You must bring and wear a bicycle helmet at all times that you are on your bike, and it must be attached with a chin strap. No exceptions. Bring water.
This clinic is dependent upon good weather and trail conditions. CHECK THIS POST THE MORNING OF THE CLINIC for any changes or cancellations. If I have to cancel because of weather, I will make the appropriate announcement on this thread.
There is no minimum age per se. We will leave that up to the discretion of the parent. Parents are responsible for their kids at all times. Children are the welcome, but we don't make a lot of effort to make any special considerations for them.
This clinic will be lead by me. But I need a good turn out of volunteers to help me pull this off smoothly.
Please read the Beginner Clinic Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page before asking any questions
