SF:Building 'Bootiful' Applications with Spring Boot with Josh Long & Phil Webb

"Building 'Bootiful' Applications with Spring Boot" with Josh Long & Phil Webb

Schedule:
5:30-6:30pm Pizza and Networking
6:30-8:00pm Talk and Q&A
8:00-8:30pm Wind down

Alright, so maybe "bootiful" won't ever work, but I tried, and it was worth it too because you're reading this. Spring Boot, the new convention-over-configuration centric framework from the Spring team at Pivotal, marries Spring's flexibility with conventional, common sense defaults to make application development not just fly, but pleasant!

Join Spring developer advocate Josh Long (@starbuxman) for a look at what Spring Boot is, why it's turning heads, why you should consider it for your next application (REST, web, batch, big-data, integration, whatever!) and how to get started.

I will be live coding and (attempting to) answer your questions on all things Spring and Spring Boot as I introduce the technology.

Speakers

Josh Long is the Spring developer advocate. Josh is the lead author on Apress’ Spring Recipes, 2nd Edition, and a SpringSource committer and contributor. When he's not hacking on code, he can be found at the local Java User Group or at the local coffee shop. Josh likes solutions that push the boundaries of the technologies that enable them. His interests include scalability, BPM, grid processing, mobile computing and so-called "smart" systems. He blogs at

blog.springsource.org or joshlong.com

Phil Webb is a Spring Framework developer and co-creator of the Spring Boot project. Prior to joining Pivotal and relocating to California, Phil worked for a number of UK technology companies.

Very helpful to see a spring boot app written from "scratch" and all the pieces explained as they are added.

Invite says 5th floor. Pizza and camera are on 4th floor. I take it this means the talk is on the 4th floor?

It would be great if this presentation is recorded. There are people who have last minute cancellation but really want to learn and benefit a lot from this....
Also, would be great if slides can be put up... Pl. let us know….

Can the organizers confirm if tomorrow's session will be similar to the one in the above link?

Tomorrow's talk in San Francisco has the same title but will be doubly awesome because it will be co-presented by Phil Webb from the Spring Boot team so will have his added material. (No pressure on Phil :)
