What we're about

We hold group runs around the Somerville, Medford, Arlington, & Cambridge areas. Our group is judgement free, and very social. Tuesday nights we hold an Intermediate 5-6 mile run, longer runs on Thursdays and over the weekend.

Tuesday nights we head out for food and drinks after the run, all participants are welcome!

COVID-19 Notice: To ensure the safety of our runners, we ask that anyone who has cold or flu symptoms to please stay at home. We understand you may want to “run through it,” but do consider your fellow runners and help us prevent further spread of COVID-19 and other diseases. If we do suspect someone has a cold, and has come to the run, we may ask you to leave.

We will follow the advice of the MA Department of Public Health regarding public gatherings. DSR runs are still scheduled for now. If there are any changes, we will post about them on our Meetup and Facebook pages.

During times of early darkness (fall, winter, early spring), Headlamps or Light-up Reflective Vest is MANDATORY.

Our group has a few simple rules:

1. On all of our runs we will stop occasionally to regroup with our slower members.

2. Please respect everyone's personal space.

3. We don't run with dogs or strollers, if you wish to run with either, this may not be the group for you.

4. We are an inclusive & judgement-free group!

Check out our calendar to see all upcoming meetups, and find Running Safety Guidelines on our website. (http://www.dsrunners.com/about-us/safety-guidelines/)

We have many runners on our roster, all of our members have been to a meetup within the last 6 months, or have joined within the last three. Occasionally we will go through our member list and purge inactive members to maintain a current roster. If you were removed from our group, and would like to rejoin, please feel free. Removal from our active list doesn't mean you aren't welcome to come--we would love to have you!

5-6 mi run starting from East Arlington (or Virtual Run) and Hangout on Zoom

DSR is beginning small-number group runs starting on May 26th. We believe that re-starting runs during the time of coronavirus can be done safely and within the guidelines set out by federal, state, and local officials. However it is vitally important that we follow all recommendations and be extra careful to be courteous and respectful of other people out on the road. DSR will be continuing to promote virtual themed-runs and Zoom hangouts for anyone who does not feel safe to return to group runs at this time. The in-person run starts out from East Arlington, and heads out into Arlington, Winchester, and surrounding towns. We always try to keep our group together, so there's little chance of anyone getting lost or off track. The theme this week is street art. The in-person route will run past street art in teh area. For the virtual run, pick a route that shows us some of your local street art. Take some photos and post to the DSR Facebook page for points for pints! If you are coming to the in-person run, you must RSVP on Meetup. If you have RSVP'd and decide not to come, please remove yourself from the RSVP list so that others may join. Route: DSR Covid-19 Guidelines: For the time being we will be limiting attendance to 10 runners max, broken into two groups of 5. In addition to this we need to require a few things of all our runners: * Physical/social distancing: At no time during the run should anybody be within 6 feet of anybody else. This includes, for example, passing pedestrians: please be very respectful of all pedestrians and maintain a minimum of 6 feet of distance when passing them, if you are not able to maintain a distance of 6 feet while passing someone who is walking, you should slow down to a walk until it is possible to pass while maintaining distancing protocols. While regrouping we must be vigilant of other street and trail users, and give everyone space. * Masks: you must have a face mask, bandana, or buff to participate in the group runs—pulling a t-shirt over your face is not sufficient. If you show up without a mask of some sort you will be asked to leave. Because we are running in a group, your face mask should be worn at all times during the run. It is also important to remember that a face mask is not a substitute for physical/social distancing. * Signs and symptoms: If you have any symptoms of a illness (e.g. cough, fever, sneezing, running nose tightness in chest, etc.) do not attend the run. Stay at home and consider seeking medical advice. * RSVP: This group run will be capped at 10 people. All runners are required to RSVP on meetup.com. Please keep your RSVPs accurate (cancel if you cannot come). * Self-isolation: if you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive or is presumptively positive, please do not attend and instead self-isolate for the recommended two-week period. Similarly if you work with an at risk population or work in a high-risk essential job please do not attend the group runs, and consider attending the virtual runs instead. Post run beer time will likely not happen for at least a few weeks—this is entirely dependent on the State’s guidelines allow. In the meantime, we will continue to host virtual hangouts on zoom.
