What we’re about
We hold group runs around the Somerville, Medford, Arlington, & Cambridge areas. Our group is judgement free, and very social. Tuesday nights we hold a Short/Slow 3-4 mile run & an Intermediate 5-6 mile run, and trail runs over the weekend on Sundays.
Tuesday nights we head out for food and drinks after the run, all participants are welcome!
During times of early darkness (fall, winter, early spring), Headlamps or Light-up Vest is MANDATORY.
All runners must sign a waiver form before their first run: https://forms.gle/4NtKp6YVgv8Y4K8f8
Davis Square Runners’ Code of Conduct is created for the benefit of everyone so that they may achieve their running goals in a safe & fun environment. We welcome people from all communities, and we are LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Our policy is not meant to outline all interpersonal relationships and interactions. But rather to layout the basic principles of decency that we expect from our runners, and that our runners can expect from the Leadership Team.
1. DSR admins and members will not make judgments about, question, or ridicule a person’s sex, gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, or age, and accepts people as they present themselves.
2. Please respect everyone’s personal space.
3. On all of our runs we will stop occasionally to regroup with the slower members of our group. Please be aware of minimum pace requirements set for all runs, and inform the group leader if you will be slower.
4. To ensure the safety of everyone, we don’t run with dogs or strollers.
5. We are a judgement-free group. Anyone participating in disparaging or ridiculing comments, making unwanted advances, and/or engaging in aggressive behavior will be removed from the group. This applies to in-person group activities as well as on our social media forums.
Check out our calendar to see all upcoming meetups.
On most of our road runs we ask that runners are able to keep at least a 10 min/mile pace, except otherwise noted.

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Sunday Fells Run! 5-6 miles with option for more110 S Border Rd, Medford, MA
5-6 mile run through the trails of the Fells, more if there's interest.
***The run takes place even if only the host is confirmed, since there are usually other non-registered runners showing up. If the run is canceled, it will be canceled on the meet-up site first.***
This run is intended for anyone new to trail running as well as more experienced runners. We regroup periodically to allow our slower runners to catch up.
** You must be able to run at least a 10 min mile on ROADS and be able to continuously run between regroupings to ensure that you can safely keep up with the group. We cannot include participants who run/walk or hike at this event. **
We meet at 10 am and leave at 10:10 am sharp.
Please fill out the Davis Square Runners Participant Waiver prior to attending:
https://forms.gle/buxjNGKY9hhKNL466
The waiver only needs to be filled out once but is required even if you have previously attended DSR events.
In case of emergency during the event, you can call or text the DSR Emergency number, 339-707-7615.
If there are newer trail runners in the group, we will do an easy 5 mile loop and regroup frequently. HOWEVER, keep the pace and running ability requirements listed above in mind prior to attending.
For those wanting more miles and difficulty after the initial loop, we will continue on to more technical trails with frequent regroups.
We start at Gate #6, which is at the end of Governor's Road in Medford (Middle Road into the Fells). Parking can be found nearby at parking lots along South Border Road, or on some of the side streets.
We always try to have an experienced trail person in the front and the back so as to keep our group together.
To have a safe and fun run, we suggest you bring:
- Water. Trail running can take more out of you than a road run. Having more water than less is a good idea.
- Snacks. Granola, nuts, gels/chews, etc, are good to have to snack on during the run.
- A phone or map. Useful if you get separated or lost (even though we try to stick together, getting off track can happen).
- Bug repellant for ticks and mosquitoes. It is summer and Middlesex Country is known to be affected by Lyme disease and West Nile virus.
- Sorry, no dogs allowed. We run narrow trails and there are usually many unleashed dogs in the Fells on a Sunday morning already.
