Chapter 9: Convolutional Networks

Details

This week we'll discuss Chapter 9: CNNs

6:30pm Chapter will be presented by Louis Monier. I can't begin telling you how excited I am to have him lead this discussion! He is an industry veteran and if you do not know about his many achievements you should google him :) Currently he is leading Airbnb AI Lab. But most importantly he is a wonderful educator with passion for demystifying AI! Checkout his Deep learning workshop series on Holberton School's youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL9fiZhokxg (you can fork their repo and follow along!)

8pm Q&A with Christian Szegedy (https://research.google.com/pubs/ChristianSzegedy.html) staff research scientist at Google Research (many thanks to Cosmin for making this Q&A happen). Some of Christian's research papers:

Going deeper with convolutions - the inception architecture

Batch normalization: Accelerating deep network training by reducing internal covariate shift

Intriguing properties of neural networks (initiated the current wave in research into adversarial examples for ML algorithms)

We will be streaming live at this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF9O8Vj-FEbRDA5DcDGz-Pg/live

Everyone should read the chapter beforehand and bring a personal copy to the meetup. You must RSVP to attend due to campus security.
