Title: Ethical & Responsible Data Stewardship
Subject: In a world of 25 billion connected devices and 450 exabytes of data, the lines are blurred between informative and creepy, smart and invasive, efficient and vulnerable. Even if you’re not breaking laws when designing or using products and services that gather or use large amounts of data, the public relations consequences of missteps or blunders by you or your suppliers can be significant. Here’s the good news: people are more than twice as likely to stay loyal to and defend a brand they trust, even in the face of disruption. Trustworthiness starts with your ability to explain how the technology works. While you're under the hood implementing and auditing sound data security practices in the cloud, you can be taking steps to improve ethical and responsible data stewardship.
In this session, we review the European Commission guidelines for trustworthy artificial intelligence, how these guidelines mirror those proposed in the U.S., and where these guidelines are being used to develop industry standards for advanced automation, analytics, and algorithmic decision making. You will leave this session with the first five steps in your ethical and responsible data stewardship plan.
We're all starting from a different place, running at a different pace, in a different race with disruptive technologies. I bet we can all agree the end should be ethical, responsible, and trustworthy.
