What we're about
Underwater hockey meetup group for the Denver area. We would like to invite you to try underwater hockey, a fun a competitive sport. For more information on underwater hockey, see this introductory video (http://usauwh.org/media/video/uwh-promo-video).
Lakewood practices are held at the Carmody Recreation Center at 2200 S (Old) Kipling St. in Lakewood, CO. See the map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2200+Kipling+Street,+Lakewood,+CO&sll=39.785323,-104.911194&sspn=1.108045,1.873169&gl=us&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2200+Kipling+St,+Lakewood,+Jefferson,+Colorado+80215&z=16) for directions.
Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:30 and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30. Please consult this meetup site to confirm that we are meeting on specific dates. New players are encouraged to show up 15 minutes early and to let us know you are coming (via this meetup site) so we can be there to help you select gear.
Practices are open to men and women of all ages. Beginners are always welcome. Practices usually consist of scrimmage and instructional sessions, so there's something for everyone. Please note that most of our players do not use this meetup page, so we generally have many more attendees than is reflected by the meetup page attendance count.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
If you are new to the sport, you're welcome to come a few times and try it for free. After that, you may either pay on a per-practice or per-quarter basis. For detailed payment information for Lakewood practices, please speak with Chris Debrunner, the Lakewood club Treasurer (you can catch him at practice most of the time).
NOTE: The club rents the pool, so you should not pay to get in for our practices. When you come into the Carmody facility, tell the staff at the front desk that you are there to play Underwater Hockey.
WHAT DO I BRING?
If you have snorkeling gear (mask, fins and snorkel) that you'd like to use, feel free to bring it, but we also have equipment for you to borrow, so all you really need is a swimsuit.
