Dozens of scheduled tasks, multiple databases, SOAP and REST services, hybrid UIs combining .NET webforms and node.js based technologies, SSRS reports, multitenancy, New Relic integration – as a company grows, so do its needs and so does the complexity of its software. Real-world deployment automation can often be much more complex than what you read about in an Octopus Deploy tutorial. At Moonshot Innovations, our largest client needed faster, more reliable deployments for its platform, which has grown to support their business for well over a decade. We were tasked with making that happen and lived to tell the tale. Can it deploy? Absolutely. Here’s how we did it.

BIO: Stephen Hardimon
I am currently a senior software engineer at Moonshot Innovations, where my primary focus is leading the conversation around automated builds, multitenant deployments, and configuration management. My interest in devops is rooted in my belief that it is a culture, not so much a simple automated build here and a sprinkling of buzzwords there, but an actual, living culture. I believe a strong devops culture drives inter-team communication and guides companies towards discovering synergies that maximize the diverse talents most shops possess but never fully harness. A devops expert is a powerful force multiplier, capable of supercharging a team or even a whole company. I'm very interested in doing what I can to help the team win, and I love the idea of fostering a positive culture with healthy communication, so for me, devops is a natural fit.
My 13 years of professional experience have informed my perspective on the myriad of ways businesses use technology to accomplish their missions. It's been a fun ride. I have worked extensively in all phases of the SDLC, from analysis and requirements gathering, to architecting and implementation, and of course deployment, configuration, and maintenance. The solutions I've been asked to build range from the primarily UI-based, to database-heavy reporting solutions.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my boxer, Duchess, and my guitars, which are many in number and horribly played. Some say it's best if I stick to IT.

A rep from Octopus Deploy will also be at the event and available to answer any questions.
This meetup will be recorded and uploaded to the DevOpsKC Youtube channel after the event. There will probably not be a livestream.
