What we're about

Everyone interested in finding relief from suffering, developing a meditation practice and cultivating inner peace is welcome.

Meditation and dharma classes are held a few times per week on a variety of topics such as deepening relationships, developing patience, reducing anger, and forming a practice. Although the classes are based on Buddhist teachings, you don’t have to be a Buddhist to benefit from the practicality and practice of meditation.

During this period of shelter-in-place and physical distancing, our classes are virtual and at reduced fee. We also have a donation option for anyone experiencing financial difficulties. All are welcome, no one will be turned away.

The Pursuit of Happiness

Online event

$10.00

The Pursuit of Happiness What would make you truly happy? A bigger house? A new job? A perfect partner? More often than not, once we’ve acquired what we’ve longed for, the happiness fades and we begin wishing for new things to bring us joy. What if we had the tools to take personal responsibility for our own peace, joy and love rather than looking for them outside of ourselves? Meditation can help us develop the capacity to find happiness within. The Pursuit of Happiness series will introduce you to the Lamrim, a time-tested method of meditation. The companion book, "The New Meditation Handbook" by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is easy to understand and designed for us. Classes build as a series, but each one stands alone. Beginners are welcome; no prior experience in meditation is necessary. Please register on Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/2DupSSv CLASS FEE: $10 However, we are offering a donation option for those experiencing financial difficulty. True to Our Feelings: Contemplating and Meditating on Karma

Online event

$10.00

True to our feelings: Contemplating and meditating on karma Most of what we think we know about karma is wrong. Karma is not fatalistic nor does it describe inevitable destiny. Instead, the law of karma helps us make sense of our feelings and understand why things happen to us. Join Kadam Peter for a series of four Tuesday evening online classes from Dharmachakra Buddhist Center and discover how contemplating karma is essential for happiness and inner peace. Each class is self-contained, yet is also presented as part of the four-week series. Drop into any class you like. Cost: $10 per class or enroll for all 4 weeks for a discounted price of $35. These classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners. All classes are from 7:00 - 8:30 pm and taught by Kadam Peter Class #1 Are Feelings Real? How our head can come to accept what is in our heart. Tuesday, July 28, 7 - 8:30 pm Class #2: I Didn't Mean to Hurt You Where our pain comes from and why it keeps coming back. Tuesday, August 4, 7 - 8:30 pm Class #3: I Feel Your Pain How being true to our feelings is the basis for compassion. Tuesday, August 11, 7 - 8:30 pm Class #4: Are Feelings Real? (Part 2) Since feelings are dream-like, let's make good dreams together. Tuesday, August 18, 7 - 8:30 pm Please check out our promotional online membership for only $45/month at MeditateNJ.org or inquire at [masked].
