What we're about

Welcome to Dublin cycle touring group!
We are an active, friendly, cycling group who get out of Dublin and into some beautiful, quiet countryside stopping about halfway for coffee.
Sometimes we take a train to get out of Dublin quicker.

We mostly cycle Sundays and also in the summer months Thursday evenings.

Our focus is a bit different than some other cycling groups, It's all about the spirit of "touring". It is neither speed nor endurance, but the pleasure of being out on the bicycle in pleasant surroundings.

**NOTE: ** This is an ACTIVE cycling group. We very much welcome new members but please only join this group if you intend to come out cycling with us.

Please wear a helmet.

Cycle the Glencree valley

Caffè Nero

This is a grade 4 cycle. It is fine for regular cyclists, but not for beginners
Distance 58km. Very hilly (770m of climbing)

One of the most beautiful valleys in Wicklow, the Glencree valley, is a 10km long glacial valley which winds its way from the village of Glencree down to Powerscourt House and Gardens.

It is a beautiful cycle and well worth the trip out from Dublin.
Today we will be cycling out by the Blue Light Pub towards Enniskerry then up the north side of the valley and down the south side with the best views.
There is plenty of climbing in this route but the payback is some of the finest scenery in Wicklow. Be warned, this is NOT a beginner's cycle!
As we will keep the pace steady but slow on the hills, it is well within the abilities of any of our regular cyclists.

Distance 58km. Very hilly (770m of climbing)

Here is our plan for the day.
1. We will leave Cafe Nero at 930am.
2. Cycle out through Stepaside and The Blue Light Pub.
3. We then head out towards Glencree, with a constant climb for about 9km.
4. At Glencree we stop for lunch then its the beautiful downhill on the south side of Glencree back into Enniskerry and back to Dublin finishing at Cafe Nero by 330pm pm for a well-earned coffee.
