Skeptics on the Fringe:Rich Peppiatt-One Rogue Reporter

Details

Speaker

Rich Peppiatt is a former tabloid reporter who brought his debut comedy show, in which he turned the tables on his former bosses through a series of pranks and stunts, here to Edinburgh last year . He is now a writer, broadcaster and semi professional troublemaker.

Following his degree in Philosophy and Literature at Warwick University Rich Peppiatt bought the very best suit his overdraft could buy and joined the other notebook-clutching Dick Whittingtons marching on Fleet Street (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleet_Street).

Following a spell at the Mail on Sunday, the highlight of which being a trawl of eastern Canada searching for a stripper named Phoenix (http://www.occultopedia.com/images_/topic/phoenix_dark.jpg), the chance arose to hone a fast-developing moral ambivalence at the vastly more cerebral Daily Star (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Jn-LeUC-BnU/S864sUbOS2I/AAAAAAAAA_8/NohDFNIXWoo/s1600/100415star.jpg).

With his reportage now freed from the shackles of truth (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Jn-LeUC-BnU/TEnejVjtdBI/AAAAAAAABRM/eV5Yl-o-rEs/s1600/100421star.jpg), logic (http://community.brandrepublic.com/blogs/gordons_republic/Star.jpg) or taste (http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/blog/images/1127_810.jpg), opportunity abounded to tackle nuanced national issues with the tact of a rusted hacksaw (http://www.anorak.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/daily-star-muslim-rochdale.jpg). For these services to circulation he was given one of modern society’s highest accolades; access to celebrities (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_43ifcKaro).

By the spring of 2011 he finally faced up to the glaring reality that he was doing some bad things (http://istyosty.com/tmp/cache/893751dd08677326f4d78387d58bd1c1ad356763.html) for some bad people (http://www.moreaboutadvertising.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Richard-Desmond-with-ciga-003.jpg) in an attempt to maintain a not bad lifestyle. There was no escaping it; this made him a bad person. He felt bad.

Soon after, he quit (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/mar/04/daily-star-reporter-quits-protest). He felt much, much better.

In his spare time he enjoys pottering around his beloved Highbury and writing about himself in the third person.
