Talk - The Role of Information in Online Reputation Management
This talk will discuss the role that information plays in an individual’s online reputation management.
Areas of focus will include how people determine what information to share with (or obscure from) others, who ultimately controls the information about individuals, and the EU’s Data Protection Regulation which includes “the right to be forgotten”.
Frances Ryan is a research student in the Centre for Social Informatics at Edinburgh Napier University.
Her research explores personal online reputation management in a digital world.
She holds Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Central Washington University (USA), with minors in Historical Tourism and Wine Studies, and a Master of Letters in Media and Culture (with distinction) from the University of Stirling (UK) where her dissertation investigated the sharing of news and information through social networking sites.
