Skeptics on the Fringe Presents:
Dr Dean Burnett, Author, honorary research associate at Cardiff University, former Psychiatry lecturer - The Happy Brain - How happiness works, according to science
Barely a week goes by lately without another article or book claiming to know the definitive 'key' or 'secret' to lasting happiness. But do they hold up in the face of scientific evidence? And what of the wider understanding of happiness in our culture; do we actually stand a chance of living 'happily ever after'? Would that even be a good idea if we did? In his new book 'The Happy Brain', Dean Burnett attempts to tackle all of these questions and more, and hopefully leave people with a better understanding of how it all works in our heads.
Dean Burnett is doctor of neuroscience, sometimes comedian, blogger, reluctant pundit, speaker and, most recently, international bestselling author. He first entered the world of Skeptics in the Pub as the founder and organiser of the Cardiff branch after completing his PhD in neuroscience and looking for something to do while he searched for jobs.
Since then his life has become somewhat more ludicrous but he still likes to stay true to his roots.
