What we're about

Effective Altruism Singapore (EA SG) is part of the network of EA chapters globally.

Effective Altruism (EA) is about using evidence and reason to do the most good. We ask, "With limited time and money, how can I make the greatest positive impact in this world?"

We believe that with the affluence in Singapore, we have a great opportunity to use our resources more effectively to make a positive impact in the world. At EA SG, we are focused on effective giving, high impact careers as well as research.

We engage with donors, students, philanthropists, corporates, and social impact organisations to share ideas and look at ways for how to do good more effectively.

Our work involves EA outreach, career coaching, promoting effective giving and research.

Effective Altruism Singapore: Introductory Meetup #2019-02

"With limited time and resources, how can I make the greatest positive impact in this world?" That is the question which we ask at Effective altruism (EA)—a global movement that seeks to apply evidence and reason to determine the most effective ways to improve the world. Effective Altruism Singapore (EA SG) is part of the network of EA chapters globally. If you care about doing good in more effective ways, come join us for an introduction to EA to find out more about how you can make a difference in the world. This event is for anyone who is new to EA and is interested to learn about basic EA concepts (https://www.effectivealtruism.org/articles/introduction-to-effective-altruism/)! We'll be sharing: • Why EA exists, and what it is or does. • EA affiliated organisations. • A framework on choosing the best decision to to good. • Most urgent global problems. • Usual concerns regarding EA. • Why people join EA. • EA's call-to-actions. Some IMPORTANT things to take note of: • This event will be inside NVPC, which is located in Clarke Quay Central. Clark Quay MRT is the closest station. It's tricky to find it, but here's a video guide (http://gg.gg/nvpc-video-guide) and a PDF guide (http://gg.gg/nvpc-pdf-guide) that you can follow. • Please bring dinner if you have not eaten yet. We don't serve food unfortunately. Not only do we at EA SG organise events like this to engage the general public, we also work with academics, researchers, students, donors, philanthropists, social impact organisations, and corporates to share ideas and look at ways for how to do good more effectively. Our work in general includes outreach, community, career, and giving. You can find more details regarding EA SG at effectivealtruism.sg. You can also follow us at our Peatix group (https://easg-intro-201901.peatix.com) or Facebook page (https://facebook.com/effective.altruism.sg). ---------- Supported by: A GOOD SPACE This event is co-hosted with A Good Space – where changemakers flourish as a community to imagine and create experiences that expand perspectives across diverse social issues.
