About White's Ferry:

Historic White's Ferry is the last of 100 ferries that used to operate on the Potomac River. This ferry, named after the confederate Civil War General Jubal A. Early, connects Whites Ferry Road in Montgomery County, Maryland with a road by the same name in Loudoun County, Virginia. The cars line up on what looks like a boat ramp and drive down onto the ferry. Once loaded, the ferry follows a wire cable to the other side of the Potomac.

About Dickerson Conservation Park:

The park provides opportunities for quiet enjoyment of the natural environment. The 304-acre park sits next to the Potomac River and the C&O Canal just south of the boundary between Montgomery and Frederick Counties. Floodwaters damaged this portion of the C&O Canal and towpath during the flood of 1996. M-NCPPC acquired the park in the early 1960s.

About Monocacy Aqueduct:

The Monocacy Aqueduct is the largest of the eleven aqueducts erected along the C&O Canal and is often described by many historians as one of the finest canal features in the United States. Ten of the eleven aqueducts remain as key features of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, which was designated as a national historical park in 1971. The Catoctin Aqueduct collapsed after its piers were gradually undercut and a flash flood took it down in 1972.

About Sugarloaf Mountain:

Sugarloaf Mountain is a small (1,283 foot; 391 m) mountain and park about 10 miles (16 km) south of Frederick, Maryland, USA. The closest village is Barnesville, located just over one mile from the foot of the mountain. The peak of this relatively low mountain is approximately 800 feet (244 m) higher than the surrounding farmland.
