Become a member of the FREE RideWithGPS E-bike Lovers Club. https://ebikelovers.com/2021/03/15/download-our-trails-and-never-get-lost/, support E-bike Lovers, and enjoy the largest and most exclusive repository of curated trails designed for e-bikers in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
WHY? Because we don't have biking leads. You follow the ride in the GPS app to avoid getting lost and being dependent on someone else.

IMPORTANT: We don't have bike leads or trip coordinators. We strictly organize self-guided e-biking events. We don't have biking leaders, as E-bike Lovers is based on the philosophy that we are all leaders, responsible for our happiness and well-being.
About
Get on your electric bicycle - E-bike and join others in exploring the DC metropolitan area. We use our electric bicycles between 15-25 miles (sometimes longer) in DC, Virginia, and Maryland. We normally start from Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park, Fletcher's Cove, Haines Point, or another park in the District. We also e-bike outside the District on longer trails within an hour's drive from DC.

Easy going
This is an easy-going group and we are not training for the Olympics. We use our electric bicycles to bike around 12 mph and enjoy navigating the hillsides with our modern marvels of transport technology. The group is a great way to share your experience with an electric bicycle - E-bike.
Everyone is welcome, including riders on non-assisted bikes.
Plan 2-3 hours for each trip. You can stop at any time and return home. There is no requirement to finish the trip. We participate in the trips to have fun, to be outdoors, to get exercise, and to meet other wonderful people.
Normally, participants will wait at some points of interest to allow slower riders to catch up, although this cannot be guaranteed. On nice weather days, riders normally plan for lunch halfway through the trip. This is another great opportunity for riders to catch up with the group.
A great opportunity to learn more about E-bikes
Learn more about electric bicycles - E-bikes from those who actually use them daily or weekly. What is their experience? What to avoid when you are in the market for an(other) electric bicycle - E-bike? How to manage batteries? How to integrate your electric bicycle - E-bike with navigation systems? How to secure your electric bicycle - E-bike with locks and register it online? These are just some of the questions you may ask other members while we peddle with electric bicycles - E-bikes.
I have no Electric Bicycle - E-bike. Am I welcome to join this group?
Absolutely. Everyone is welcome, even if you do not ride an electric Bicycle - E-bike.
Weather and cancellation
There is never a bad biking day, there are only bad biking clothes. We plan to bike year-round, also in the winter (but within reason). With the right clothing and protective gear, this can be a great experience.
What you need to know
We always follow traffic rules and stop for stop signs. Safety and fun first.
We will use biking lanes (class I permissible) as much as possible, but will frequently ride on roads with other traffic. You need to feel comfortable doing this.
You join this Meetup group at your own risk, and you are solely responsible for your own safety.
You cannot sell merchandise or engage in any commercial activity during events and through our online platforms, including MeetUp and Facebook unless E-bike Lovers authorizes this. You cannot contact other members to solicit merchandise of any kind using any of our systems. If you do so, as some have done, your membership will be revoked.

BWI to Ellicott City, Round Trip
Thomas A. Dixon Observation Area, 1911 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie, MD, UShttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/54723088
29 miles trail, road/street. Toilets beginning, middle, and end. Lunch at Tiber Park, Ellicott City, at 14 miles.Do you like airplanes? Do you like quaint little towns? How about a state park and a couple of cable bridges? Then this is your ride.
We'll start at the Thomas A Dixon Jr. Aircraft Observation area at The Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) and ride a portion of the airport loop before making our way toward Patapsco State Park and Ellicott City.
After a bit on the road, we will swing through Patapsco state park, and then stop at Tiber Park along Main Street in Ellicott City. Have a picnic lunch there. Or feel free to explore the shops and restaurants of this picture-perfect Maryland small town. When you are ready, turn around and come back the way we came. Stop and watch some takeoffs and landings at the BWI observation area before you drive home.
The ride is a mix of trail and street/road riding. Shoulders are generally wide and the roads are pretty calm. We'll cross two cable bridges; one in Patapsco State Park and another as we approach Ellicott City.
About Ellicott City
Nestled between the cultural and historical powerhouses of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Ellicott City was once a major mill town and vital stop on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the first major railroad in the country.
Now, explore historic Main Street, where classic 18th and 19th-century architecture is paired with modern boutiques and cafes. Visit the B&O Ellicott City Station Museum or wander the picturesque streets and have a bite to eat. https://www.visithowardcounty.com/ellicott-city/About Patapsco State Park
Patapsco Valley State Park extends along 32 miles of the Patapsco River, encompassing 16,043 acres and eight developed recreational areas. Founded in 1907 as the Patapsco Forest Reserve, Patapsco Valley State Park is Maryland’s oldest state park. It is the site of some of Maryland’s earliest mills and factories, America’s first common-carrier railroad and the world’s first underwater hydroelectric plant.
Catastrophic floods have damaged or destroyed many of the valley’s historic structures and sites. As you travel through the park, keep an eye out for historic structures, sites and ruins.
https://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/pages/central/patapsco.aspxBring plenty of water and snacks or lunch. Don’t forget your bike lock if you plan to stop in Ellicott City or along the way! The group stops a few times (certainly before tricky turns) for slower riders to catch up.
Please charge your battery, pump your tires, and check your brakes. The ride is on paved trail and asphalt roads, but there are a few hilly segments. As usual, analog bike riders are most welcome.
We highly recommend that you download the Ride With GPS route map.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54723088For the E-Bike Lovers group to be successful, we need to grow our membership carefully. Please feel free to invite other E-Bike lovers spread the word, and let’s have fun!

An Epic Adventure from Middleburg to Purcellville and back
23229 Carters Farm Ln, Middleburg, VA, UShttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/37593880 (38 miles, 40% gravel)
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37642919 (22 miles, 44% gravel)Two routes: 38 or 22 miles. Picnic is in Purcellville with restaurants.
Toilets at the beginning, middle and end of the trail.NOTE: ADVANCED TRAIL. BRING EXTRA BATTERIES! THIS IS A FULL DAY SELF-GUIDED ADVENTURE.
The GPS routes can be found here:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37593880 (38 miles, 40% gravel)
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37642919 (22 miles, 44% gravel)Come join us for a ride through some unbelievably scenic roads between Middleburg and Purcellville, VA.
Loudoun County has a lot of beautiful back roads, many of which are gravel. This route meanders through some of the best scenery that this area has to offer. Expect to see miles of stone fences, pastoral farmsteads, charming little towns, and sparkling streams that snake their way through the landscape. You are guaranteed to end this ride with a smile on your face, and tranquility in your soul.
Road bikes with super skinny tires will not be appropriate for this ride; that being said, any other tire should be fine. The key to navigating gravel roads is to take your time, which you will want to do anyway, as you take in the scenery. We wait at intersections for slower riders to catch up, so there will be no pressure to go any faster than you are comfortable.
There is a winery just across the road from the parking area, and a brewery just on the other side of Middleburg, should anyone feel inclined to grab a bite to eat and a drink, after the ride.
Mile 0 to 7: Mickie Gordon Park to Hibbs Bridge
Both routes are the same to this point. Hibbs Bridge is a double-arched stone bridge with a humped back built between 1810 and 1830 when the Snickers Gap Turnpike was being constructed on what is now the Snickersville Turnpike.Mile 7 to 9 (short route): Hibbs Bridge to Philomont General Store
The shorter route's lunch stop is at the Philomont General Store, which is a neat old building that has a variety of food, ice cream, drink, and other general store items. It has a strong 1800's vibe to it. There is also a restroom nearby.Mile 9 to 22 (short route): Philomont General Store to Mickie Gordon Park
This is exactly the same as Mile 25 to 38 on the longer route.Mile 7 to 18 (long route): Hibbs Bridge to Purcellville
We'll break away from the short route and make our way to Purcellville, where there are many good options for food directly on the route, including a Subway and 7/11. If you like Thai food, Patama Thai Kitchen (next to Subway) is top notch. We'll break for lunch in Purcellville's Fireman's Park, which has picnic tables and restrooms. The park is just down the road from the eateries, so consider bringing your food with you to the park.Mile 18 to 25 (long route): Purcellville to Philomont General Store
We'll gradually get back into it after our lunch stop, and enjoy more pleasant back roads as we make our way to our final break point. The Philomont General Store is a neat old building that has a variety of food, ice cream, drink, and other general store items. It has a strong 1800's vibe to it. There is also a restroom nearby.Mile 25 to 38 (long route): Philomont to Mickie Gordon Park
We'll head back over Hibbs Bridge and make a quick right onto a gravel road, which will lead us to some of the most remote and serene parts of the ride. You just can't find roads like this in most places, and we are lucky that Loudoun County sees fit to leave them be. We'll arrive in Middleburg the back way, bike down East Washington Street, and make a right just after leaving town. We'll take some neighborhood roads to avoid route 50 as much as possible, then do a very short stint (0.2 mi) on 50 to get back to our parking area.Free Ride With GPS for E-Bike Lovers

The Great Allegheny Passage is a 150-mile rail-trail linking Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Cumberland, Maryland, following former railroad corridors through river valleys, forests, tunnels, and historic industrial towns.
With its crushed-limestone surface, gentle grades, and car-free design, it is accessible to a wide range of cyclists while still offering a strong sense of journey and progression through the landscape.
The trail traces the Youghiogheny River for much of its length, crosses the Eastern Continental Divide near Meyersdale, and finishes in Cumberland, where it connects seamlessly to the C&O Canal Towpath, making it one of the most celebrated long-distance cycling routes in the eastern United States.
