I have heard this can be a wonderful experience and am told best chance to see dolphins is around 7am. So early start for us. Plan will be to stay at Makau Beach to around[masked]am and then grab breakfast on way back to town. I will be bringing a waterproof camera to hopefully capture video/pics. But you're welcome to bring your gopro, etc. *Important Things To Know* * You will need to sign a liability waiver prior to riding with me or going in water with this group. * This is my first time going to Makau Beach. * You must be an advanced swimmer * You are responsible for your own safety * Bring a towel and change of clothes. Please don't wear wet attire when riding in my vehicle. * Don't be late - I'll be leaving Kapiolani park no later than 550am. Two options to for meet location. 1) Meet at Kapiolani Park at 530am. 2) Meet at Makua Beach by 7am. ***(If you choose this option, you don't pay the $10.00*** Please let me know in advance when you RSVP.
We’re off on a short road trip (I drive or you can meet us at Gardens) to escape the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and to enjoy the wonderful natural beauty of O’ahu while on a silent and leisurely 1.8 mile hike at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens. Upon arriving at the park, you'll be taken through a guided meditation that will allow to you to become more aware of your body, it’s senses, and your surroundings, to help you stay in the present moment. On the hike, we’ll take our time exploring and viewing some beautiful sights, and if you want, feed some ducks and fish along the way. Afterwards, we’ll have a quick debrief/optional group share before heading back to Honolulu. Let’s experience them all while doing the hike together. Wear footwear you don’t mind getting muddy and/or wet. If you want a ride, meet me at the parking lot at Kapiolani park located at 3840 Paki Ave. I'll be driving a black Suburban LTZ. Recommend you bring water bottle, hat, sunglasses. Since space is limited and respect for others, please no late cancellations and be on time. Must be 16 yrs or older to attend.
Mark, one of our members and a professional photographer will be teaching this class. In Mark's class "Conscious Photography", he will review foundational concepts intended for beginners who want to capture and create more compelling photos regardless of what camera you use or your preferred subject matter. The class objective is to increase your awareness and visual acuity. Mark offers practical ideas for practicing and self-training your mind and eyes. 1.5 hours including Q&A. Bring your preferred means for taking notes. BYOB Parking is free on Waialae after 6pm. Bus stop also close by.
For quite a few years, I was deeply unhappy with my life despite satisfying most of the Western World's criteria of a "successful" person. Either a symptom or a cause, I worked extreme hours, was in chronic pain, stressed and would often abuse alcohol as a way to try to escape my unhappiness - in reality, it made things worse. Fortunately about 10 years ago, a good friend referred me to a "teacher" who had a tremendously positive effect on my life. The goal of this event, suggested by a member, is to be bring together people who are or have experienced difficult times in their lives. At this meetup, perhaps those who found ways to improved their lives can share tips/advice on what has worked for them. I encourage sharing, but it is completely optional - you are welcome to come and just listen. Please keep all sharing confidential. Event will start with a brief meditation and then we will likely break up into smaller groups discussions - all depends on how many people attend. Suggest you bring something comfortable to sit in/on as well as a snack and a refreshing beverage. For those interested, we'll walk down to beach to watch fireworks. Lastly, an hour before the event, if your mind is making "I'm tired. . . I don't feel well. . . it's hard to find parking, etc" excuses - try to overcome this mental chatter. You might be the better for it.
