Proof-of-Stake Introduction and Hands On Lab

Details
We're very happy to have a hands-on tutorial on Proof-of-Stake by Jeff Flowers. Jeff is professor of Chemistry at the College of San Mateo and holds a EdD from San Francisco State University as well as his MS in Physical Chemistry from University of California, Riverside. He's also an organizer of this meetup! Jeff's abstract follows:
This will be an introductory two part mini-series centered around Proof-of-Stake (PoS) as a consensus mechanism followed up with a hands-on laboratory. PoS has been around and coming around in a big way of late, what is it though? We will be introducing this core concept, both pro’s and con’s using an historical perspective along a glimpse of bleeding edge technologies that are being pushed out presently. No prior understanding will be assumed and will provide the framework for understanding.
During the lab, we will spin up an Ethereum 2.0 validating node locally on your laptop. If you would rather not, the materials will allow you to ‘see’ the process as it unfolds - so that you can understand this incredible move being planned.
Please bring your laptops and if you could, please install "Docker for Developers" (https://www.docker.com/get-started) prior to coming.
