What we're about

What is Excursions by the Bay?

We are a social club that (ideally) meets every Saturday morning at 10am for a short local hike or outdoor activity. None of them are planned to go over 2 hours and there are no club dues. It's really just a way to meet new people and get a little exercise on the weekend.

If you like some of the folks you hiked with, meet up again later that day for coffee, a group bar outing, or friend each other on battle.net and play some Overwatch. You know, what Saturday's were made for!

This club isn't about sharing everything in common with one another, it's about meeting people you wouldn't have otherwise. So if you are reading this I hope you come. I'd consider this a success if I met one new casual hiker!

I'll plan to post the trail and entrance we're meeting at by Wednesday the week of. Hikes will stay within a 20 mile radius of Mountain View unless there is group consensus about a cool hike somewhere else nearby. If you forget a water bottle on one of our hikes it's a matter of mild discomfort, not life and death.

Why am I doing this?

Coming out after college, which was in 2014 so I've had time to think about this problem, I was really surprised by how much I missed being able to meet new people without there being transactional expectations.

Entrepreneur mixers, clubs and bars, and meet ups at hacker labs can all be fun, but the prospect of career advancement or hooking up can throw a wet towel over your chance at making good friends and acquaintances. So in that sense, Excursions BtB is the anti-meetup meetup. No offense to meetup.com. You are a very helpful service.

Sailing on a yacht in San Francisco Bay
Needs a date and time

Location visible to members

This meetup is created to gauge whether there is interest in sailing on a yacht in the San Francisco Bay. This is why there is no date set. If the interest is high I will organize and post separate specific meetups with full details. The RSVP fee is $50 per participant. Please RSVP if interested. Thanks, Steve.
