Please sign up directly at https://www.meetup.com/Global-Network/events/130630562/ and check out updates, instructions + contact info of the Host (in comments to be posted below the event).
Last Saturday we had over 350 RSVPs for the International Jazz Festival, and many people enjoyed the music, vibe and meeting other attendees at the Woodbine Park. As promised, we will do this again this Saturday for the signature "Streetfest" event!
Queen's St. E. will be closed down at nights, with lots and lots of performance along the street (for 2 km long!!). And there will be other big stages for band performance. This time the festival will be even more fun. Don't miss out!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------
THERE IS A RISK OF SHOWERS this evening
-- Bring your umbrella (or get prepared)!
-- I will be there no matter what to gather attending members. (Mobile # is provided in a comment below.)
-- I asked a couple of bands there at Streetfest yesterday, and they told me that the performance will still be on if the rain if not too heavy. I would encourage you to still come and in the worst case we will find a restaurant to meetup and go out for performance when we can. As for whether you like to come or not, please make your own judgement and hopefully don't get disappointed either way...
We will meet around the intersection of Queen's St. E. and Woodbine Ave. (see instructions below for the meeting spot and agenda)
rather than meeting at Boardwalk first and walking to Queen's St. E. later on (as it would be too far especially when there are showers and the turnout is expected to be lower than predicted originally).
***********************************************
Meeting spot and agenda:
7:00 pm:
Meet & mingle in front of the "fire station" (the "clock tower building) near the intersection of Queen's St. E. and Woodbine Ave.
-- It's easy to spot: walk into the closed-street area from the Woodbine Ave. entrance for 70 meters, and it's on your left-hand side)
-- It's not too crowded as of Thu., with some bands nearby.
-- If the rain is heavy at 7pm, group members will gather at a place nearby with shelter. And I may go to the fire station area to pick up members who can't spot the group if needed (in the beginning of the gathering around 7pm)
7:20 pm:
Walk along the Queen's Street East and enjoy various performance along the way. Basically, we'll stay for a couple of songs for each band and you can look around for (food) stands and come back or catch up with the group.
After we are done with all/most bands (or when the majority of attendees decide not to keep walking):
We'll form smaller ad hoc groups each with a leader. You get to join any group or even step up as a leader and coordinate a group. And each group can go wherever the group wants to go or stay. One of the groups can go for a beer or (light) dinner at a restaurant together.
***********************************************
Note 1: It was almost impossible to find a parking spot nearby even for Thursday (as we tried for 20 min.). I plan to park near LCBO and walk to the meeting spot (around 5-10 min.) this Saturday.
Address of the LCBO parking area: 1654 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M4L 1G3 (near the intersection of Queen's St. E. and Coxwell Ave).
Note 2: My mobile number is provided in a comment below, but I can only promise to reply texts (rather than taking all incoming calls).
-- And I may not reply/call back promptly when there is a big group, sorry. So plz read the instructions carefully and take down adequate info (or access it with a mobile when needed before contacting me).
