What we’re about
This is a hiking group for people who, like me, take life at a slow and steady pace. I love the outdoors, travel and hiking. Like the tortoise, I keep a steady pace and always get there in the end. Hikes will be mostly medium-length ( 2 - 6 miles) with elevation gains of under 1500 feet and a pace of book time +50%. Older people who have slowed down, younger folks who are just starting out, people who are overweight and want to get moving, people who are recovering from an injury, people who occasionally like to stop and take pictures or smell the roses...anyone who wants to take things at a slower pace. Hikes and other events take place all year round and in various locations!

Friday’s weather says partly sunny and in the low 70s. Come hike for an hour or so in a beautiful wildlife reserve. We will make a big loop along the marsh and check out the heron pond. Interpretive signs and kiosks along the way. Many different species of birds, butterflies and pondlife. A nice way to start the day! Possibility of a longer hike for those who wish.

This is an ANNOUNCEMENT of the event…no pre-registration is needed. I’ll be there as a vendor, selling my hand-knit hats, scarves and other items. There are also trails to walk and lots of fun things to do. Beautiful setting. Family friendly! Come say hi!
Capen Hill Fall Festival is set for Saturday, September 20th!
Start the Fall season off with visiting your local Sanctuary as our fall foliage starts to turn and you start to crave those cider donuts. We’ll have those fall delights along with a grill in action, local artisans & vendors, a bounce house, pumpkin painting, and an open Visitor Center with our animal residents. There’s no better time to check out the Sanctuary if you’ve never been or revisit if you haven’t been in a while. A great way to support your Sanctuary!
