A WALK IN THE VILLAGE OF ZEBEGENY IN HUNGARY

VIRTUAL WALK - THIS IS A FREE EVENT
CONNECTED BY THE 'ZOOM' PLATFORM
WEDNESDAY 29 APRIL 2020
18:00 hrs

Tonight, Endre and Mariann, our hosts in Hungary, will lead us on a guided tour of Zebegény, the village where they live. Zebegény is situated right on the banks on the Danube and on the edge of the beautiful Duna-Ipoly National Park.

DURING THESE DISTRESSING TIMES when 'virtual' becomes the norm, we have some great 'virtual' activities to help us keep engaged with friends, old and new. One of these is our weekly 'VIRTUAL WALK' (details as above) ...

YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS FOR OUR VIRTUAL WALK:

1 ... WE INDIVIDUALLY LEAVE OUR HOMES, connected via 'Zoom', whilst enjoying Endre and Mariann's live stream as we take our permitted daily exercise, or:

2 ... TO REMAIN IN YOUR HOME, likewise connected by Zoom, and enjoy Endre and Mariann's guided tour of their village on your laptop, tablet, phone, etc

BUT, PLEASE ... with Option 1, this exercise activity MUST be done within ALL the social distancing guidelines.

<<< IMPORTANT --- IMPORTANT --- IMPORTANT >>> ... ... ...

PLEASE MESSAGE ME ... with your NAME and MOBILE PHONE NUMBER otherwise I cannot mail you the 'Zoom Invitation Link' to enable you to join the virtual walk. THANK YOU.

ZEBEGENY IS A PICTURE POSTCARD VILLAGE on the banks of the Danube some fifty miles north of Budapest. It is here that Endre and Mariann have established their wonderful canoeing, cycling and hiking adventure business. If you walk from their garden, you literally almost fall into the mighty Danube (believe me; I've done it !!!).

THE VILLAGE HAS A RICH HISTORY ... records from the eighth century note the existence of the village here. The first record of the village name dates from a letter of 1295, when it was called Zebeguen. The Parish Church, which has become the emblem of the village, is considered as a unique masterpiece of twentieth century church architecture. The Trianon Memorial in the village marks the territorial losses forced on Hungary under the Treaty of Trianon after World War I.

NB:
(1) ... if you take Option 1, by joining this virtual walk you undertake to abide by ALL social distancing guidelines.

(2) ... if you are uncertain about Zoom, please ask; I am one of the world's greatest technophobes but, I managed to download and use 🤣.

(3) ... PLEASE message me if you are joining the virtual walk as places are limited.

Please join us on Wednesday, these events will become a wonderful addition to our 'virtual' calendar.
