Weekly Update from FCCP Director - Please READ

From: Jeff D.

There are several important announcements this week. Several groups are looking for volunteer photographers and support.  We also have a member that has additional openings for his Photoshop Elements Class at St. Petersburg College.

First, our friend Nikki Emerson, from Somebody Cares Tampa Bay is in need of several photographers. Her group has need of several photographers ASAP to help with photos for a newsletter going out this week and to photograph several art pieces.  This is not a complicated task and several volunteers could easily complete this.  I can also provide instruction on how to do this.  Please contact Nikki ASAP at[masked] or via email at Nikki Emerson  [address removed]  This is a great charity and a chance for photographers to give back to the community and make a difference.

Longtime member Jack Frost has a Photoshop Elements class start at St. Petersburg College, Clearwater campus. This is multi-week class meeting 8 weeks for a total of 16 hours.  This also a hands on class with each student having a PC.  The course includes a color manual, DVD and much more.  Photoshop Elements 10 is in all the computers, but the manual is updated for Elements 11.  Jack is great teacher and the course is offered through the Adult Education program for just $95, a STEAL!  Please Call[masked] to register.  But don't delay, the class starts tomorrow, February 5.

Our spring Groupon promotion was postponed for a week by Groupon. I'm actually very happy about this since we had such short notice and running the day after the Super Bowl was not the best date, in my opinion.  Look for more details, later this week.  But we "should" have a soft launch this Saturday or Sunday, with the big day next Monday.  Our goal for the spring is to register 300 students and we can do this with every member's help.  You can start helping by telling all your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers about this great promotion.  If you haven't yet LIKED our Facebook Fan Page, please do so now.

FCCP will have every workshop, bootcamp and mini workshop on sale. Some of the prices will be the lowest we've ever offered and some of the discounts are only offered through Groupon.  Watch your email this Friday, for complete details and help us register 300 students for this spring.

What are you doing this Sunday? No football, no new TV shows, no baseball, what can I do?  Listen to WTAN-AM 1340 this Sunday from 8 PM to 9 PM is On the Air or view us LIVE online as Jeff Donald, Ted Froberg and Lew Donald discuss all things photography.  Callers can get some great prizes and everyone will have some learning and laughs during the inaugural broadcast of Picture This, as it goes live in Florida and Arkansas.

My pick for the must see webinar this week is "Create Compelling Photographs with Chris Orwig." Chris is a great instructor at Brooks and and a noted author.  Tomorrow you'll have two opportunities to watch Chis' Live webinar, at 1 PM and again at 3 PM.  Here are the details for the first and second live webinar presented by NIK Software.  Please be sure and register on the webinars providers site so that you can receive all the necessary information attend these webinars.  Please follow the links above to complete the registration process.

Join FCCP members on a PhotoWalk this week. We have six PhotoWalks in the next six days, more than any other Photography Group, Club etc.  Tomorrow join us on the roof of the Clearwater Main Library and shoot a great sunset.  Wednesday join us on the University of Tampa campus for a sunset and tour of historic Plant Hall and more!  Thursday morning meet up with the group at Kapok park in Clearwater. Thursday evening, we'll be across from UT at Curtis Hixon Park for our sunset and nighttime tour of downtown Tampa.  Saturday is a great chance to photograph the Civil War reenactment at Hillsborough River State Park and early Sunday morning FCCP members are headed to Circle B Bar Reserve outside of Lakeland, for some great wildlife photography.  Don't put off your PhotoWalks.  The best way to become a better photographer is to shoot more pictures and no one offers more photo opportunities than FCCP!  Please follow the links above to learn more about our events and to RSVP.

Thanks everyone for your help and support.  I look forward to shooting with you soon!
