The Fresco Adventure Group is a group of people in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area that are looking for outdoor fun. Primarily African American adults from the age of 30 and up that enjoy nature and exploring the world. Our activities include monthly programs to keep you fit, active, and healthy: - Hiking - Kayaking - Canoeing - White Water Rafting - Camping - Skiing - Skydiving - Spa Excursions - Retreats - Diving programs - Wellness programs - World traveling to exciting adventure locations

• A short 2-mile leisure hike with experienced guides along the Appalachian Trail near Snickers Gap in Virginia (use directions below as GPS may not take you to the correct location)

• Lunch with beverages

Join us for a road trip to Paris!
Our Three-state adventure takes us to Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma
We will also visit three National Parks including:
Big Bend National Park, Texas
Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas
Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico
Paris, France, the home of historical art, great wine, and lots of sophisticated cultures, opens its pathway for this Fresco travel series as we explore the many faces of Paris during a five-year journey to four of its USA Parisian named cities. This road trip featuring Paris, Texas is the fourth trip in a five-year series for an annual trek traveling from the smallest to the largest of the Paris named towns to enjoy the culture, food, scenery, and learning about what makes the area so special to be named after one of the most famous cities in the world.
Here are the highlights for this adventure:
This is a 12-day road trip to three states and three National Parks and includes the following:
- Lodging for 11 nights in 3-4-star hotels in central city locations (2 nights in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 2 nights in Amarillo, Texas, 2 nights in Carlsbad, New Mexico, 1 night each in Alpine, Monahan, and Abilene Texas, 2 nights in Dallas, Texas)
- Daily Breakfast at hotels, and evening dinner meals
- Local tours and transport in each city (museums, national parks, city tours, horseback-riding, electric bike ride)
- Roundtrip air transportation from the DC area to Dallas, Texas
General Itinerary for April 6 – 17, 2023:
Day 1: Depart on a morning flight with arrival in Dallas, morning drive to Paris, TX, and travel 3 hours to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City for 2 nights
Day 2: Tour the Black Wall Street area in Tulsa Oklahoma
Day 3: Travel to Amarillo, Texas with a stop at the Pala Dora Canyons for hiking, 2 overnights at a ranch in Amarillo
Day 4: Morning Horseback riding at the Cowgirl ranch, afternoon at a beehive farm
Day 5: Depart Amarillo with a stop in Roswell for tours and sites, overnight in Carlsbad, New Mexico for 2 nights
Day 6: All day in Carlsbad National Park
Day 7: All day in Guadalupe National Park, overnight in Alpine, Texas
Day 8: All day in Big Bend National Park, overnight in Monahan, Texas
Day 9: Travel to Abilene, Texas, visit museums, overnight in Abilene, Texas
Day 10: Travel to Dallas, afternoon electric bike ride, overnight in Dallas for 2 nights
Day 11: Free day to explore Dallas, evening food tour
Day 12: Morning brunch and depart by 1PM for home
Cost is $4,179, single supplement is $2,785 and there will be a monthly payment plan beginning in September for five months ($750 per month and final payment in February 2023).
A $750 Deposit is due to reserve your space. Space is limited to 8 people and there are currently three spaces available.

Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum
Number Nine Trolly and Red Trail in the Banneker Historical Park
This is a 6-mile trail loop along the Trolly and Red Trail. It is an easy level hike with a few small inclines. Parts of the trail are paved or natural ground. You may also spend time afterwards to visit the museum portions of the park.
The Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum is a Baltimore County Park that honors the land and legacy of a Free African American man who lived during the 1700s along the Patapsco River Valley.
WHAT TO WEAR:
- Comfortable, well-broken-in, sturdy walking shoes or ankle-high boots.
- Wear two pairs of socks; first layer is a thin pair that will absorb moisture (liner sock), and the second layer that will add for comfort and keep your foot dry (wool or thicker sock). Bring an extra pair in case you need to refresh
- Protective clothing should include:
- A hat or scarf for sun and bug protection
- Long comfortable loose fitting pants or shorts with knee socks (for warm weather)
- A cotton blend shirt provides for better perspiration and comfort
