The Fresco Adventure Group is a group of people in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area that are looking for outdoor fun. Primarily African American adults from the age of 30 and up that enjoy nature and exploring the world. Our activities include monthly programs to keep you fit, active, and healthy: - Hiking - Kayaking - Canoeing - White Water Rafting - Camping - Skiing - Skydiving - Spa Excursions - Retreats - Diving programs - Wellness programs - World traveling to exciting adventure locations

Evening Meditation Hike along the C&O Canal in Georgetown

Join us for an evening meditation hike. This is part of a series of unique walking programs focused on methods to tap into your own quiet space. Learn to unwind from your day and listen to the sounds of nature, silence, and your inner wisdom as we take a peaceful walk along the C&O Canal in Georgetown. Learn a simple yet powerful way to meditate and commune with nature to invigorate your mind, body, and spirit.

Each session consists of:

  • A Pre-walk "Intro to Meditation" to prepare you for the walk with suggested mediation techniques to use (from 6:30-6:45PM)

  • Walking in silence along the paths (approximately two miles from 6:45 – 8:15PM, with a brief break)

  • A Post-walk reflection to journal and time for sharing (from 8:15 – 8:30PM)

Cost is $10

This is a rain or shine event.

Metro Riders –Take the blue or orange line to the Foggy Bottom (GWU) Stop. We'll meet at the circle that intersects with K St, 23rd and Pennsylvania Ave

WHERE TO MEET:

Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC– Parking Lot 6

Directions:
The parking area is near Military Road in Washington, DC.
From Washington, DC, take 16th Street to Military Road (16th St. may also be reached from the Silver Spring Georgia Ave. exit from the 495 Beltway).
Take the first exit off Military Road to Beach/Ross Drive.
After turning into the park, make a left turn at the stop sign and continue to the next corner near the Park Police Station. Turn left and park in lot 6.

Cost is $10

Be onsite by 6:15PM to sign-in. We will begin the program promptly at 6:30PM, so please be on time.

Hike, Lunch, and Wine along the Virginia Wine Trail

Join us for a relaxing and fun-filled day visiting wineries along the Virginia wine trail. Our Hike and Wine Tours feature:
• A short 2 mile leisure hike with experienced guides along the Appalachian Trail near Snickers Gap in Virginia (use directions below as GPS may not take you to the correct location)
• Wine tasting at a local vineyard at the Twin Oaks Winery
• Lunch with beverages

Kayak, Lunch, and Wine along Breton Bay in Leonardtown MD (Southern, MD)

Kayak along the marshes and creeks at Breton Bay in Maryland

Join us for a casual drift along the scenic waters of Breton Bay visiting near historic Leonardtown. Learn to maneuver your way in this five mile voyage along flat and calm waters. Lunch and wine tasting are provided at the end.

Kayak from 10AM -12PM (approximately 5 miles along the Breton Bay)

Lunch and wine tasting at the Port of Leonardtown Winery from noon to 1:30PM

Cost is $75 includes all equipment, instruction, lunch, and wine tasting.

Location: We will park at the Leonardtown Winery and then drive some of the cars to the start point at the Wharf.

This is a great kayak adventure for beginners and experienced kayakers

Space for this program is limited to 8 people
