Hwange National Park is the largest national park in Zimbabwe and – if this helps you to grasp the scale – it’s half the size of Belgium or 18 times the size of New York City. In fact, the park is 14,651 sq km and is undoubtedly one of Africa’s greatest.  Hwange National Park was granted Game Reserve status in 1928 and proclaimed a National Park in 1961. Hwange’s water holes are famous and during the dry season months from June to November all the wildlife including herds of elephants flock to them in a daily cycle that runs from morning until well into the night. It is home to the largest population of elephants in Zimbabwe and Africa’s largest population of the endangered wild dog and one may find rare species such as roan and sable. In addition to four of the big 5: elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo; Hwange has always been renowned for its incredible diversity of wildlife, and to this day it boasts more varieties of mammal and bird species than any other Zimbabwean National Park. There are over 100 species of mammals, including 19 large herbivores such as buffalo, eland, sable and wildebeest, and over 400 bird species.

Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the major waterfall on the Zambezi River in Africa. It is famous for being the largest waterfall in the world, during the wet season. The African people who live around the falls call it Mosi-oa-Tunya which means "smoke that thunders".

The Zambezi River plummets over a cliff and into the Boiling Pot before flowing through a series of gorges. The Famous Devil’s Pool, a natural infinity pool, is on the edge of a sheer drop and will be an optional activity and not for anyone afraid of heights. The surrounding Zambezi National Park is home to white rhinos and elephants. Victoria Falls is shared by two countries: Zambia (to the north) and Zimbabwe (to the south) and separated by the Zambezi River.

4.] CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, BOTSWANA

Chobe National Park is in northern Botswana near the vast, inland Okavango Delta. It's known for its large herds of elephants and Cape buffalo which converge along the Chobe Riverfront in the dry months. Lions, antelopes and hippos inhabit the woods and lagoons around Linyanti Marsh.

Chobe is surely the best place in Africa to see elephants, where it is common to see hundreds of elephants along the Chobe River and there are an estimated 120,000 elephants total in Chobe National Park. There are equally large herds of buffalo to be found. The park also offers great lion and leopard sightings, while the river has an unbelievable abundance of hippos and crocodiles and an almost inconceivable wealth of birdlife, including a number of particularly rare species that are highly sought after by top wildlife photographers.

While NO shots are legally required to enter Thailand, consulting a travel clinic to discuss recommended vaccinations based on your personal health history is highly recommended. Common recommended vaccines for Thailand include:

*** THAILAND #2 CANCELLATION POLICY: There are no refunds available with less than 150 days notice (which is June 19, 2025) before the November 15, 2025 departure date, unless you or Fun Happenings find a replacement to take your place.
