Come have your futurist motivations stripped bare with acclaimed futurist Robin Hanson at the historic Bellevue Club in Oakland on Sunday evening, March 18th, 2018 at 7:30pm.

With Kevin Simler, Robin Hanson has recently published The Elephant in the Brain: Hidden Motives in Everyday Life, on our human tendency to not be honest about our motives. He will talk about why in many areas of life we tend to talk about having more high-minded motives, while the details of our behavior is better explained by lower-minded motives. Then he will apply this general idea more specifically to futurism: why, really, do we talk about the future?

Parking will be available, buzz the intercom for access and tell the receptionist that you are there for the futurist event.
