We are getting ready to post our fall schedule, but first we have a demo of one of our new classes! The gee class will start in September in Long Beach, but our demo will be in Costa Mesa (actually Santa Ana, across from So Coast Plaza).
Kids must bring their own laptop/netbook. iPads/tablets won't work. No experience necessary!
Scratch Programming Demo
Age: 7-12 years
Monday, July 29, 11am-Noon
Orange County Fine Arts, 3851 S. Bear St., Santa Ana
Instructor: Ms. Victoria Rivett
Students will be introduced to fundamental programming concepts using Scratch, a graphical programming language developed at MIT. Students will create their own games, animations, and various interactive projects using block-like puzzle pieces containing code that they can then upload and share with the MIT Scratch community. No previous programming experience necessary. Ages 7 and up.
This is a drop-off class if parent & child are comfortable. As always, parents are welcome to sit in and observe the class.
OC Fine Arts is near Morton's Restaurant and Corner Bakery. It is in a small shopping center with many entrances. The easiest way to enter would be to park at Showcase Gallery and walk in that way. There is a courtyard if you have a little one who would enjoy being outside.
Ms. Victoria Rivett has a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Hawaii, an M.A. in Educational Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco, a second M.A. in Elementary Teaching from Western Governors University, and holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. From a young age, Victoria pursued her art studies in studio locations such as the Laguna Beach College of Art and Design (formerly Laguna Beach Art Institute). She has created innovative art programs for private schools, summer camps and taught drawing lessons online for an art company. Victoria currently is a board member, studio director and art instructor at the Orange County Fine Arts (http://ocfinearts.org/).
