GeoAmateurs lives! And we couldn't be happier.
We'll be getting together after...a long time. But the same GeoAmateurs parameters will be in place--
a) convivial atmosphere
b) learning opportunities for both early career and experienced professionals
c) enthusiasm for the tech, not the sales pitches.
Sean Gorman - Serial Geo-Entrepreneur
Sean returns to the Geo Amateurs stage to talk about his new thing. Given his track record in being on the bleeding edge of geo innovation, neither you nor I need to know the details ahead of time--but we're confident it will be cool and a *little* complex.
Ashley Summers - DRCOG
If Data is the new Oil, then Ashley and her team at DRCOG run one of the biggest pipelines on the Front Range. She'll highlight some of the Open Data offerings and how organizations big and small have hacked on the data to build cool applications. She'll also give us a heads up on newer data initiatives for the upcoming year that you should be looped in on now.
Rachel Stevenson - Geospatial Professional
Rachel will give a short talk on adding Inkscape to your Cartographic tool belt. Face it, all of us can identify "GIS Maps" from 40 feet away--and most of us create those maps too ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). Inkscape is an open source vector graphics tool that can make your stuff a little less GIS-y and a little more visually compelling.
Mark May 29th on your calendar: the free food and socializing will start at 5:30pm, presentations will start at 6pm.
