There are amazing hikes around the world, including ones here in our backyard. This month we will have a group conversation, with attendees sharing stories of hikes they have taken worldwide. Discover traveler's favorite spots in other countries as well as day trips accessible from Portland. We will start the group discussion at 6:15. This is earlier than normal, but will help control the noise in the great private room we have at Caldera Pub. Plus, it will give us more time to discuss lots of hikes far and near. Talk Travels are free, however, all attendees are asked to donate $3 to cover meetup costs. Also, please plan to buy food and/or drink to support the venue. ONLY RSVP IF YOU PLAN TO ACTUALLY ATTEND. Talk Travels are often super popular and get wait-lists. Not turning up if you have registered is tough on other travelers, the hosts/speakers, and the venue. Please be considerate and honor your RSVP. There is free street parking around Caldera Public House. Plus, it is on a bus route. Do order drinks and food at the main floor bar. Then join us upstairs. Meetup Hosts: Shyla and Dan Bare started this meetup group to hang-out with other travelers and to share the travel tips they learned while traveling to 75 countries. They love to hike and have done so in numerous countries. They are also co-founders of Wild Spirit Travel (www.WildSpiritTravel.com) and have co-authored the best selling travel tips book on Amazon called the Before You Go Abroad Handbook (https://www.amazon.com/Before-You-Abroad-Handbook-International/dp/1537322346). Join fellow world travelers at the July Global Travel Social. Come share travel stories, ask questions about your next destination, or simply enjoy a drink with global minded people. All travelers or travel dreamers are welcome at our monthly gathering. This month we will be trying a new venue - The Moon & Sixpence in the Hollywood district. It is a charming British Pub with a beer garden out back. As long as it is sunny, we plan to grab a couple tables in the beer garden, and one inside for those that prefer air-con. It really helps to have an accurate headcount so we know how much space to reserve. Please, do NOT sign up unless you actually plan to attend (and you put it on your calendar!) If your plans change after signing up, please switch your RSVP. On the night, find our group by looking for the meetup signs. And do check in with the organizers as we do check people in. This travel social, is free to attend, however, attendees are asked to donate $2 - $4 to cover meetup costs. Also, please support the venue by ordering food and/or drink. The start time is flexible - turn up when you can and leave when you want. Parking is free in Hollywood, but limited. You can also take the bus, or it is a short walk from the Max Station. New to this group? Don't worry - this is a welcoming and friendly group of travelers. Some members have been around the world, others are preparing to get the first stamp in their passport. Photos taken at the event may be used by Shyla & Dan Bare, or Wild Spirit Travel, in social media, websites, or print. They may promote future meetups, travel talks/classes, or general Wild Spirit Travel activities. By attending the event, you give consent to be in photos.
For years, members have been asking how to find travel partners through this meetup group. As such, we are going to try something new this month - a Talk Travel with the specific them of "Finding Travel Buddies." I have a few ideas on how to facilitate discussions between potential travel partners based on destination, activity level, and more. The goal will be to identify who is actively looking for travel buddies, and then get attendees to move around meeting others with similar interests. Not looking for a travel partner, but still want to attend. No worries, Dan will host a table for people that simply want to come talk travel. We will be at Rogue Eastside Pub - where we will have multiple tables outside in the beer garden if sunny, or inside in the Bistro area if rainy. Look for the meetup signs. At Rogue, please order food and/or drink at the main bar and then join our group. And, it is Tiki Tuesday at Rogue. Member of the Rogue Nation (free to join), get a discount if wearing a Tiki shirt. Talk Travels are free, however, all attendees are asked to donate $3 - $5 to cover meetup costs and buy the speaker/facilitator a drink. Talk Travels are often super popular and get wait-lists. So no showing is tough on other travelers, the speakers, and the venue. Please be considerate and honor your RSVP. Photos taken at the event may be used by Shyla & Dan Bare, or Wild Spirit Travel, in social media, websites, or print. They may promote future meetups, travel talks/classes, or general Wild Spirit Travel activities. By attending the event, you give consent to be in photos.
