Announcing a new Meetup for Golden Gate Hikers!

What: Friday Hike: Redwood and Dipsea Trails from Muir Woods

When: Friday, July 23,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Muir Woods National Monument
1 Muir Road
Mill Valley, CA 94941
(415)[masked] recorded message

The Hike:
Here's a short hike on a Friday to avoid the weekend crowds in Muir Woods. It's a poetry hike too. This is a 6 mile loop on the Redwood and Dipsea Trails. 2600 feet total elevation change.

I have not hiked this route before, but it appears to be a moderate hike and suitable for strong beginners.

The Meeting Details:
Meet at 10:00 am sharp at the ranger station in the parking lot.

I can take three passengers - please contact me directly. I'll be leaving from Outer Richmond.

There is $5 entrance fee for Muir Woods. I have a national park pass, so if you carpool with me, you're covered.

No "Maybe" RSVPs:
Since the hike size is limited, please do not respond Yes unless you are sure you will be attending.

What is a Poetry Hike?
If you like, bring a short poem or an excerpt of a longer one. Two or three times during the hike, we'll stop briefly and people can recite the poems they brought. This is completely optional, and the stops will be brief. You can bring poetry from the literature or your own. More poetry at lunch. This is something I did for years as a hike leader in Washington DC and it was a lot of fun.

Driving directions:
From the Golden Gate Bridge, take Highway 101 to the Highway 1/ Stinson Beach Exit. Follow the signs to Muir Woods. Allow 20-30 minutes driving from the bridge.
