Speakers:
Steve Kinney - The Other Side of GraphQL: Writing a Resolver

If you're solely working on the frontend of your application or if you use a managed GraphQL service like AWS AppSync, then it's likely you've never given much thought to what happens on the backend when you make a request for data. In this high-level introduction, we'll explore some of the basics of resolving a GraphQL query and returning the requisite data back to the client.

Steve Kinney is a senior principal engineer and frontend architect at Twilio. He is a founder and organizer of DinosaurJS, a community-run JavaScript conference in Denver, Colorado. He is also the author of Electron in Action and an instructor for Frontend Masters. Previously, he founded the frontend engineering program at the Turing School of Software and Design.

Craig Freeman - Creating GraphQL Schemas with the OpenAPI Spec

If you're having trouble convincing your team to use GraphQL, why not try creating a POC using a hybrid approach? In this talk we'll walk through how to use the OpenAPI documentation from your existing API to generate a GraphQL schema.

Craig Freeman is a Senior Software Engineer at Twilio, specializing in scalable and well-tested UI development for anything from small marketing sites to enterprise web applications. He's been developing for the web in various capacities since 1998 and has an interest in development best practices and organization, continuing education and mentoring, and application architecture.

Snacks and soft drinks will be provided.
