What we're about
Upcoming events (1)
Did you miss your monthly opportunity to get together with other smart software developers every month? We are now ready to reboot the group.
As most other software development groups shut down and have not resurrected from Covid, we will be opening up the topics to be more inclusive of web technologies that may not be all Microsoft. The development environment has changed significantly since we were founded in 2001 when .NET was in Beta and we need to change with it.
The presentation will be "From Pester to xUnit" by Greg Valainis
Having an automated end-to-end test suite is a good idea (TM). Creating, deploying, and testing against a production-like system is a daunting task that you might think is impossible. In this presentation, Greg will show you how to use Hyper-V management tooling to easily provision a multi-machine environment. Then, using PowerShell Desired State Configuration we will configure the machines. We will then use Pester to test our software. Lastly, we will push our test suite to the limit and see some of Pester's limitations, how we can try to overcome those limitations, and finally why an object-oriented language and an xUnit style test framework can be a better tool for the job.
In addition to a presentation, I'll be looking for feedback on topics to cover and will be looking for some help. When you get to the lobby of ECPI, someone will direct you to the proper room.
Please let other developers know about this Meetup.
