Rhonda Shrader

Rhonda is a serial entrepreneur who believes in wagging more and barking less. She has spent 20+ years in the biotech/healthcare industries, on the founding teams of Organogenesis & Cadus Pharmaceuticals as well as with larger companies like ImClone Systems, Computer Sciences Corp. and Genentech. She is currently leading marketing/business development at two start-ups in mobile commerce and social gaming for good. Rhonda has an undergraduate degree in neuropsychology from Harvard and an MBA from the Haas School of Business @ UC Berkeley.

Pam Baker, Senior Director of Market Access & Policy

Pam is a life sciences professional with 17 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech and diagnostics in a series of commercial roles across marketing, new product commercialization, reimbursement, and sales.

Pam started her healthcare career with Johnson & Johnson, beginning in sales, then moving into sales leadership and to multiple marketing roles, from product launch, to in-line marketing. After 8 years with J&J, she went to Genentech where she led the launch of an RA therapy to healthcare professionals and patients. After leading new product commercialization strategy for the anti-CD20 immunology portfolio, she shifted to the managed care group to run the strategy teams for Genentech's reimbursement organization. Pam has recently joined CardioDx, a cardiovascular diagnostics company in Palo Alto.

Pam received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Asian Studies from Northwestern University and a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. She is a mom of 4 1/2 year old twin girls.

Crescendo Bioscience
Alex Bangs, Chief Information Officer

Alex is responsible for software engineering and information technology at Crescendo Bioscience. He has worked in life sciences for over 17 years and has over 25 years of experience in the development and integration of end-user, database, analytical, and embedded systems applications.

Prior to joining Crescendo, Alex was Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Entelos where he led the development of technology for virtual patient simulations and is an inventor on several related patents. He has held technical and management positions at Strategic Decisions Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Honeybee Robotics, and the Institute for Defense Analyses.

He received an AB in computer science and engineering sciences from Harvard College and an MS in computer science from the University of Tennessee.

Melanie Swan, Founder; Research Fellow, Mobile and Web apps

Melanie is an applied genomics expert. She founded the
participatory medicine research organization DIYgenomics in 2010. DIYgenomics designs and operates health research studies integrating multiple health data streams such as genomic, phenotypic, microbiomic, quantified self-tracking device, and biosensor data.

Her educational
background includes an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a BA in French and Economics from Georgetown University, and recent coursework in biology, physics,nanotechnology, and philosophy. She is an Instructor at Singularity University and an Affiliate Scholar at the Institute for Ethics and
Emerging Technologies. She speaks French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and enjoys reading and international travel. Recent publications and press mentions are available at

Genomic Health
Jim Vaughn, R.Ph., Senior Vice President, Marketing

Committed to expanding patient access to Genomic Health’s tests, Jim currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Marketing, and oversees the commercial portfolio and Oncotype DX marketing teams in the U.S. Prior to this role, Jim led the expansion of Genomic Health’s international business efforts in Geneva, Switzerland from 2009 through 2012. In Geneva, Jim and team focused on collaborating with early adopting physicians in Canada, Ireland, Spain, Germany, and the UK, to support broader Oncotype DX reimbursement and patient access. These pioneering efforts, coupled with the experience that physicians across Europe had with the test, led to the inclusion of Oncotype DX in the prestigious St. Gallen guidelines in 2011.

Prior to leading the marketing teams at Genomic Health, Jim worked in the managed care setting and led Genomic Health’s Western U.S. sales efforts from 2005 through 2008. Before joining Genomic Health, Jim was Vice President of Cerus Corporation, a biomedical products company, where he led marketing and medical affairs. Prior to this role, Mr. Vaughn held a number of positions in sales, sales management, and marketing, including the role as Senior Director of Global Oncology Franchise with Celebrex.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Creighton University and an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Business.
