Outdoor play and picnic at Boscobel: The Liar (not Shakespeare!)

Over the last few years we have enjoyed several fantastic performances in the idyllic setting of Boscobel's outdoor theater. This year I will be attending all 3 plays, come join us for 1, 2 or all 3 (see discounts below)! On Sunday June 15th join us for:

The Liar by David Ives - adapted from the comedy by Pierre Corneille directed by Russell Treyz.

Take one young man who cannot tell the truth, his manservant who cannot tell a lie, add two beautiful young women, a jealous lover and then sit back to enjoy the hilarious consequences in David Ives’ brilliantly witty adaptation of this classic comedy.

Bonus: After the play there will be a Q&A with the actors.

Potluck picnic on the lawns prior to the show

Prior to the show we plan on having a potluck picnic on the lawn, with views of the Hudson River and surrounding hills. You can also enjoy a short stroll along their hiking trail or through the grounds.

As the audience sits under a tent the performance will occur rain or shine, only the actors might get wet whilst we still enjoy the surrounding scenery!

Schedule

5pm - picnic and walk in the grounds. Bring a dish to share.

7pm - performance starts.

We will meet on the lawn overlooking the Hudson at 5 pm for our picnic; bring food to share and a blanket/chair.  Having cups and plates etc would be a good idea too! The picnic is subject to cancellation, depending on the weather.

Purchasing tickets If you wish to join us please purchase your own tickets at http://hvshakespeare.org.

Cost Center $39.50, Side $32, Restricted View $29 and $27(plus booking fee).

I would recommend avoiding the side seats on the right, with many of those seats you will have sun in your eyes as the sun goes down (visor provided!)

Wonderful evening. Beautiful weather not too hot, good for a wonderful picnic and time under the tent. The play was very well done and the director and the playwrite's (transaptator) discussion afterwards was great. All in all a superb evening.

I always enjoy our pot luck picnics on the lawn at Boscobel. We shared some yummy food, pleasant, interesting company and breathtaking views. The Liar was absolutely, hilarious and I would have to rank it as my favorite play so far at Boscobel. Thanks Heike, for putting this meetup together every year.
