Hike Oxfordshire is part of the Ramblers charity and aimed at people in their 20's, 30's and 40's. We ask that after a maximum of 3 walks you will need to join the Ramblers in order to continue walking with us. The best place to find all walks advertised is on our website: www.hikeoxfordshire.org
We have around a hundred members who enjoy walking and socialising. Almost all of our walks end at the pub and we also organise regular monthly socials in Oxford and surrounding towns - we go for meals and pub trips as well as things like comedy, cycle tours and the theatre.
Sometimes we run joint walks with other 20s&30s groups from other counties, or the Oxfordshire Weekend Walkers whose target membership age band follows on from our group's.
We enjoy being outdoors and walking in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. We organise a walk pretty much every Sunday throughout the year.
We also organise at least three weekends away in other parts of the country.
We have been to loads of lovely places including Exmoor, Snowdonia, the Peak District, the Lakes and Scotland. We also sometimes organise longer trips too. A few years ago we completed the 90 mile West Highland Way over seven days and have also been to Kitzbühel in Austria.
We advertise our walks in a number of places and you will typically find a good sized group of 10 to 15 other walkers on each walk in addition to those you see on meetup.
You will recognise us as we really do look like Ramblers (only younger) and anyone there can confirm.
The organiser identified on Meetup is usually different from the actual walk leader. The majority of our walk leaders are not members of Meetup, please see the description of the walk for name and contact details.
In terms of what you need to bring, normally a packed lunch and water, as well as suitable clothing according to the weather conditions that day. We advise walking shoes or boots and waterproof coats and trousers as you may well get wet and muddy.
