About us
Hike Oxfordshire is part of the Ramblers and is aimed at young walkers in their 20's, 30's, and 40's but anyone is welcome regardless of their age.

You are able to attend 3 walks for free after which you will need to join the Ramblers. Ramblers membership will allow you to continue walking with us or any other Ramblers groups.

We are a group who enjoy walking and socialising. Almost all of our walks end at the pub and we also organise regular monthly socials in Oxford and surrounding towns - we go for meals and pub trips as well as things like comedy, cycle tours and the theatre.
Please note the following:
There maybe a number of Ramblers members joining the group who are not shown on the Meetup RSVP list.
The group is normally easy to find by looking for a group in walking kit. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the walk and if you are having trouble finding the group please contact the walk leader.
The organiser identified on Meetup may be different from the actual walk leader. Please see the description of the walk for their name and contact details.
In terms of what you need to bring:
- A packed lunch (unless the walk description says otherwise)
- Water
- Suitable clothing according to the weather conditions that day
- We advise walking shoes or boots
- Waterproof coats and trousers as you may well get wet and muddy.

Enstone Circular Walk (9 miles)
Chruch Enstone, OX7 4NL, Church Enstone, GBJoin us for a delightful 9-mile walk that showcases the natural beauty, rich history, and timeless charm of the Cotswolds. This is more than just a stroll—it’s an adventure through enchanting villages, tranquil woodlands, and historic estates.
We’ll begin and end our journey in the idyllic village of Church Enstone, celebrated for its charming stone cottages and peaceful countryside atmosphere. Just a short distance from Chipping Norton, Church Enstone offers the perfect starting point for our exploration.
From there, we’ll set off southeast towards the quaint village of Cleverley, before wandering through the majestic Ditchley Park Estate, a site steeped in history and once home to a Roman villa. Midway through our walk, we’ll pause to enjoy a packed lunch, re-energizing amidst the serene landscape.
On the return leg, we’ll pass the enchanting Shilcott Wood along the Wychwood Way, before arriving in the picturesque village of Lidstone. Leaving the village, we’ll join the Shakespeare Way footpath, which will guide us back to our starting point in Enstone.
To cap off the day, we’ll gather at The Crown Inn, a historic gem that has been welcoming travelers and locals for over 300 years. There, we’ll reward ourselves with a well-earned drink and reflect on the day’s journey.

🚗 Getting There: For those arriving by car, there is plenty of parkig along the B4030 road through the center of the village (see pinpoint on map above). Parking is free along the side of the road.
Unfortunately we're not aware of alternative public transport options for this one but we'll keep our eyes peeled for upcoming walks & new destinations.
For those who maybe considering car sharing, for your upmost safety we please ask you to travel together in groups where possible or at least with a driver you already know.

Chinnor Hill via Bledrow Ridge Circular Walk (9 miles)

Join Us for a Scenic 9-Mile Hike Through the Beautiful Chilterns!
Embark on a memorable adventure as we explore the stunning landscapes, rich history, and charming villages of the Chilterns. This is more than just a walk—it’s an immersive experience through tranquil woodlands, picturesque estates, and scenic hillsides.
We’ll begin and end our journey in the delightful village of Chinnor Hill, known for its quaint stone cottages and serene countryside setting. From there, we’ll set off from the Nature Reserve Car Park, heading east along the ridge towards the top of Chinnor Hill. As we descend, we’ll pass through picturesque farmland, looping around Wain Hill and The Cop, before joining the famous Ridgeway Footpath.
Continuing past Lodge Hill, we’ll make our way to the charming village of Rout’s Green and then head towards Bedlow Ridge for a well-earned pub stop.
Around the halfway point, we’ll take a break for lunch and snacks, allowing you to relax and recharge before continuing on. After our rest, we’ll make our way through the scenic villages of Radnage, passing Andridge Farm and Common, before finishing our journey through the beautiful Crowell Wood, returning to our starting point.

Great Tew Circular (9 Miles)
Village Public Car park, Great Tew, Chipping Norton, Great Tew, GBJoin us for a relaxed 9-mile walk that takes in the natural beauty, history, and charm of the Cotswolds.
We’ll start and finish in the picturesque village of Great Tew, known for its scenic cottages and peaceful vibe. Located five miles from Chipping Norton and eight miles from Banbury, it’s the perfect spot to begin our journey.
From the village’s free car park, we’ll head out across gentle hills towards Little Tew, passing through open fields and woodlands before arriving at Swerford, a classic Cotswold village with thatched-roof cottages and a quaint village church. After a brief look around, we’ll continue across lower farmland, following streams on our way to Wigginton, where we’ll stop for a packed lunch.
Before leaving, we’ll visit the Greyhound pub for a drink—whether you prefer a pint or something non-alcoholic, it’s a cozy place to rest for a bit.
On the return walk, we’ll enjoy some open countryside and rolling hills, finishing back at Great Tew. If you’re up for it, we can pop into the historic Falkland Arms for a final drink before heading home.

Watlington Park & Estate Circular Walk (9.5 miles)

En route, we’ll step into the festive wonder of The Tree Barn—Oxfordshire’s premier Christmas tree and decoration pop-up shop. Tucked away in the countryside, this enchanting farm shop is a treasure trove of twinkling lights, hand-crafted ornaments, and the crisp scent of fresh pine. It’s the perfect magical mid-walk stop for a hit choloclate and soak up the cozy spirit of the season before continuing along our path.
This will be a joint walk with our friends from the Chiltern Young Walkers group—a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded people and forge new friendships along the way.

Our circular walk begins and ends at the historic grounds of Watlington Hill, a peaceful corner of the Chilterns surrounded by sweeping beech woodland and gently rising hills. With its quiet tracks and rural charm, the park sets the scene perfectly for a rewarding day exploring one of the most scenic stretches of South Oxfordshire.
Setting out from the park, we head south along woodland paths that soon open into broad views across the Chiltern escarpment. The route leads us towards Greenfield, a small cluster of cottages tucked among rolling farmland and sheltered valleys. From here, we continue along a mix of field paths and quiet lanes that guide us steadily north-east towards Northend, a hilltop hamlet where the landscape begins to open into classic Chiltern scenery — chalky paths, sweeping ridgelines, and wide views over the treetops.
Around the halfway point, we’ll break for a well-earned packed lunch, taking time to rest and enjoy the stillness of the surrounding countryside before pressing on into the final stretch of the walk.
The afternoon route carries us south through stretches of beech woodland and rural tracks towards Christmas Common, where the trail emerges near The Fox Inn — an inviting stop for a drink as we near the end of our journey. Refreshed, we continue along peaceful woodland paths and gentle slopes that gradually descend back towards Watlington Hill Car Park.Returning to the park, we bring the day to a relaxed close, having enjoyed a varied and scenic loop through some of the most charming corners of the Chilterns — the perfect opportunity to explore the Cotswolds at a relaxed pace, meet new friends, and enjoy the best of Oxfordshire’s countryside charm.
