### HIKE OVERVIEW
This hike offers some landmark views, and a chance to fill our lungs with crisp sea air atop the cliffs. The Seven Sisters are a sequence of white chalk cliffs nestled within the Seven Sisters Country Park. They are remnants of dry valleys in the South Downs, formed by glacial meltwater at the close of the last ice age. Interestingly, coastal erosion has created an additional 'sister'.
Our hike commences in the coastal town of Seaford, home to a Martello Tower dating back to 1810, which was part of a network of 74 towers built to defend against the French during the Napoleonic era. We will follow the cliffs along the South Downs way, passing Birling Gap and the Belle Tout lighthouse. Remarkably, the lighthouse was shifted 17 metres in 1999 to prevent it from succumbing to coastal erosion. Our hike will then lead us to the picturesque Beachy Head, which holds a darker side, before we navigate towards Eastbourne for some well-earned refreshments in a charming pub.
### FOOD
We will pause for a snack lunch during the hike, so please bring along some food and drink. Post-hike, we will stop by a pub for refreshments.
