Hodash Dev Meetup @ Next Insurance‏ - Knowledge Sharing Done Right

Hodash Dev developers community will meet on Monday, 2nd of December @ Next Insurance Agenda: 19:00 - Meet & Mingle 🍕🍺 19:30 - The Backend Guild in Next Insurance 20:30 - Breaking The Silos: Micro Communities for RnD Organizations 21:30 - More Mingling 🍻 ~~~~~~~~~~~ # The Backend Guild in Next Insurance by Shay Mandel Engineering Group Manager @ Next Insurance & Haim Yadid Director of Platform Engineering @ Next Insurance The backend team in Next Insurance was growing rapidly from 1 to 40 in the last 3.5 years and continue to grow. When it was a small, team communication was flowing seamlessly and we need not think about it. Now we have two backend groups and in order to support this growth while maintaining a common culture and knowledge we have set several communication mechanisms such as bi-weekly guild meetings, best practices and common on boarding programs. In this talk we are going to cover the practices we are following, which we developed and continue to improve. 🎤 Shay Mandel I've been programming since I was 8 years old, and since then I'm passionate about building software. I've been a developer / manager / product manager / architect / Chief Innovation Officer / CEO (not in this order), in startups, medium sized companies and corporations (Microsoft, HP, VMWare, Sears). Being a competitive cyclist, I'm a strong believer in the power of teamwork. I've been practicing agile methodologies for 20+ years, improving teams and releasing products in increasing velocity. 🎤 Haim Yadid A software engineer with over 25 years of experience in various technology fields: software development, team management, software architecture, HPC and algorithmic research. For eight years, I have focused on Java platform performance optimization as an independent consultant and was involved in more than a dozen optimization projects. Over the last three years, I’ve been building software from scratch at Next-Insurance, where I was the first backend developer to currently leading a backend development group. In my spare time, I am one of the organizers of Java.IL. ~~~~~~~~~~~ # Breaking The Silos: Micro Communities for RnD Organizations by Daniel Sternlicht Frontend Guild Master @ Outbrain Growing teams and organizations are usually facing the same problems: lack of knowledge sharing and collaboration between teams, missing standardization, cross-organization infrastructure - any of these sound familiar? Well, good news, you’re not alone! In this talk, we’ll discuss the issues growing teams are facing, how to solve them, what are the challenges of creating micro-communities such as guilds, forums, and professional groups in your organization, and what it actually takes. 🎤 Daniel Sternlicht Frontend Engineer since the age of 14, founder of Common Ninja and There is a bot for that, and open source enthusiast currently working as Frontend guild master at Outbrain. Running the "Frontend Developers Community" group in WhatsApp, and the “Frontend top 10” vidcast - a biweekly collection of top frontend links and stories. Last but not least, married with 2 sweet children, and one awesome iPhone. ~~~~~~~~~~~ If your company wish to sponsor our events, feel free to contact us at:[masked] Your a Developer/Technologist from Hod Hasharon, Herzliya, Raanana, Kfar Saba, Petach Tikva or surroundings?
