About Emmanuel Turlay
Emmanuel is a Senior Software Engineer at Instacart. After graduating from a PhD in particle physics from Université Paris-Sud, he built web applications and tools in Ruby and Python for various tech companies in Geneva, Paris and San Francisco before joining Instacart in 2014. At Instacart, Emmanuel builds Machine Learning tools for Data Scientists in the Logistics group.

About Jardin
Jardin is an open-source dataframe-based Object Relationship Manager (ORM) for Python. It helps engineers and scientists query their various data sources in a structured and reusable way and get pandas dataframes in return. It is designed and built to be lightweight, easy to use and straightforward.

Instacart uses mostly Ruby, Python and R for code and Postgres, Redshift and S3 to store data. The Logistics group at Instacart is responsible for balancing the supply (shoppers working) and demand (customers ordering) to optimize revenue and customer satisfaction.
