The Houston AI and Data Analytics (HAIDA) is a welcoming community of AI and Data Platform professionals. We meet biweekly, with most sessions held virtually to make participation easy for everyone.

From SQL to Agents: Building an AI-Powered Azure SQL Optimization Advisor
What happens when you put an AI agent in the middle of a real Azure SQL environment? In this talk, we’ll build a practical agent that analyzes an Azure SQL Database’s workload, configuration, and operational patterns to identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational improvement. Along the way, SQL Server plays a central role—not just as the system being analyzed, but as a source of operational data, context, and capabilities that help the agent reason about its recommendations. We’ll explore how technologies such as SQL Server vector capabilities, MCP, and Fabric Data Agents can connect AI to the data and tools it needs, bringing these pieces together into a working pro-code agentic workflow. The goal is to demonstrate what it looks like to move beyond simply asking AI questions about SQL and toward building agents that can understand a SQL environment, reason across its data and operations, and produce actionable recommendations.Meanwhile here are two workshops you should note before :
