My phone in case you get lost: 713-781-1680. But do not count on cell phones working. Text messages will often get through when calls won't.

Sunrise will be about 8:05 AM CDT. So the time to leave camp may be delayed a bit if we need more daylight time to get organized.

If you are not camping with us, meet us at Grapevine Hills Road or trailhead. Look for Tom's silver Tundra pickup. Or make another arrangement with Tom.

We'll start with a venture down dirt roads to Balanced Rock and Ernst Tinaja. Then take a few short hikes on various trails near Rio Grande Village. The Boquillas del Carmen port of entry will be closed so no river crossing.

THE POSSIBLE HIKES:

Grapevine Hills: 2 miles total out and back to Balanced Rock
https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7009923/grapevine-hills-trail

Ernst Tinaja: 1.4 miles total up an occasional stream and back. We'll probably spend more time enjoying the geology than hiking.

Boquillas Canyon Trail: About two miles total out and back

Rio Grande Nature Trail: a short loop with many spurs

Hot Springs Canyon Trail: 6 miles total to the Langford hot springs ruins out and back

Or

Hot Springs Historic Walk: Short walk to the Langford Hot Springs

LUNCH:
We'll try to find a shady spot for a picnic. Bring food from camp or buy at the Rio Grande Village store.
The Boquillas del Carmen border crossing is closed on Monday and Tuesday. So this is off the schedule. Or coordinate plans by carpool.

Optional After hike events:

Gas up.
Dinner at the Lodge. Open 5 to 9.

Coordinate plans by carpool.

It is about a 45 minute drive to get back to camp. Sunset is about 8:00 PM CDT.
