What we're about

At least once a month at HoustonPhotowalks.com, we drum up some crazy idea for a place to photograph and practice our photo techniques. We're a fun bunch, no pressure, no stress. Come ready to learn and share what you know among other photographers.

Check out our Member Discounts, Sponsors and other cool stuff on our Good Stuff page:

http://houstonphotowalks.com/ (http://goodstuff.houstonphotowalks.com/)

This group is perfect for new camera owners, novice hobby photographers, and old dogs that have been shooting photos for a long time.

Our group has 3 main principles that guide our way:

• Fun and Safe (we want you to have a great time, and not die).

• Honor the amateur photography clubs that came before us. Their enthusiastic interest in photography paved the way for the technology evolution that allows us to capture light today.

• Education, of ourselves, each other and the community. We learn our best techniques from each other, and we teach the community that photographers aren't jerks, criminals or terrorists.

With so many options, techniques, settings, and variables, many photographers are too intimidated to give strobes a chance. Veteran photographer Erik Valind will take the mystery out of strobes and show you how to add them to your repertoire so you can create beautiful imagery. In this class, you’ll learn how to: - Utilize strobes in conjunction with natural light to improve your photos. - Control the direction and quality of your light. - Understand the various uses of strobes and how to adjust their settings. When you bring your own lights on a shoot, you’re no longer at the mercy of poor natural light and unpredictable weather. This course will give you an A to Z overview of new lighting techniques to help you take control of the light and be more creative with your images. ------------------------------------------ RSVP and Payment Info: Please see our Payment FAQ: https://24mov.es/2D4idaE Please see our RSVP FAQ: https://24mov.es/2SP1wFB This site contains affiliate links to products. Event Planning Discussion and General Conversation Zoom Meetup

People are starting to disembark from their quarantine and places we love to visit are starting to open. Except for Taco Bell. I went last night and they still won't let you inside. :( Anyway, summertime is usually our quiet period simply due to heat. But we've been quiet for 3 months, so we are opening up the conversation to ideas. We will discuss locations and get your feedback on the appropriate group size and any precautions. We will also use the time to give people a chance to socialize and help remind me what everyone looks like. So it's a very open discussion meeting ... but feel free to throw out event location ideas. *PLEASE NOTE*. Don't post ideas in the "comments" below, it will flood everyone with unwanted emails. During the meeting, I will keep a running list of location ideas as we discuss them. If you miss getting to see everyone at events and want some face time with other folks, feel free to sign up. Zoom link will be sent out privately via email on the day of the meeting. We will be using the latest and most secure version of Zoom, using their encrypted connection, a private meeting ID, and password that will be provided to people that RSVP "YES".
