Humanist Program: Ecocentric Ethics

Details
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
While we are having virtual meetings the webinar will start at 11:30 and the formal presentation will begin at 12 noon.
This month, Dr. Kate McFarland, Associate Director of Ohio State's Center for Ethics and Human Values, will introduce the idea of ecocentric ethics and how it differs from some other common positions in environmental ethics. She will describe why she finds ecocentrism compelling from a nontheistic, deep-time, evolutionary perspective, and investigate how ecocentric thinking might influence our attitudes and approaches to the present biodiversity crisis.
