Food Bank Friday with HDG: Fill boxes at Food Bank of the Rockies in Palisade
Details
The Food Bank of the Rockies continues to need volunteers to help feed families in need on the Western Slope. They now have a rolling conveyor belt that makes filling the food boxes easier: no more traffic jams with the big gray carts!! We work at a steady pace, but there is a break room to rest as needed and where you can chat with fellow volunteers. I highly recommend bringing a bottle of water. The work we do includes the following:
--folding and taping large corrugated cardboard boxes
--stocking the "assembly line" with non-perishable food items
--filling boxes with canned and other non-perishable food
--sealing the filled boxes and stacking them on pallets
--breaking down/flattening cardboard for recycling
--filling bags with fresh produce such as apples, potatoes, or onions
Gloves and hand sanitizer are provided by the food bank. Be sure to wear closed-toe non-slip shoes, and correctly worn face masks are required. Please read the information on the Food Bank of the Rockies website and comply with the recommendations regarding the COVID-19 policies for everyone's safety. FInally, sign up for this event only if you are reasonably certain that you will be able attend, and wear your HDG T-shirt if you have one. Thank you!
