Just Views Free Film/Discussion Group: Other Side of Immigration

We’ll view “The Other Side of Immigration”, which helps answer questions about why so many Mexicans come to the U.S. and what happens to the families and communities they leave behind. Through interviews in Mexican towns where about half the population has left to work in the United States, filmmaker Roy Germano provides insight into undocumented immigration, challenging us to imagine more creative and effective policies. For more information, go to For background on U.S.-Mexican trade and immigration policies which have fueled migration, see David Bacon’s articles for “The Nation” at and his book, “Illegal People – How Globalization Creates Migration and Criminalizes Immigrants”.

For the screening and discussion, Cristobal Cavazos and others from Immigrant Solidarity DuPage will be joining us. This group educates, organizes, and unifies community members in support of immigrant and Latino rights. If interested in participating in this group, you may join Immigrant Solidarity DuPage on Facebook. Come to Just Views for lively discussion of Immigrant Solidarity DuPage’s activism work, U.S. Mexico relations, and policy solutions for human and worker rights. We welcome active audience participation and all points of view.
