Idaho Springs hike! This is one of my favorite areas to hike in offering cooler temps and amazing views. Chief Mountain is a moderately challenging hike that is just under 3 miles. The plan is to hike this and then head into the town of Idaho Springs for brunch.
Chief Mountain Trail on AllTrails
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/chief-mountain-trail
Distance: 2.8 miles, 941 ft elevation
Schedule: begin right at 8am because this trail can get busy. Brunch in Idaho Springs at Main Street Restaurant after.
Dogs: allowed but must be on leash
Gear: it can be cooler and windier at the top so layers is best just in case. Water and whatever food you need. There can be snow on the trail this time of year but it’s usually manageable. Your call if you want to bring spikes and/or poles.
Rsvp: keep yours up to date. It’s really sad how many people say they are coming only to no show and keep people on the waitlist from joining. If you can’t come then move to not going.
Parking: the trailhead is off Squaw Pass rd and there is parking on the side of the road.
Fine print: By signing up for this event, you agree to take sole responsibility for your own safety and absolve me of any liability.
