Call for Code Day (Singapore)
Details
Natural disasters impact 80,000 people every day; costing the global economy more than $270 million. What if technologies like AI, blockchain, and IoT could help save lives? Or help us become more prepared when a disaster hits? That’s exactly what Call for Code is setting out to do.
In partnership with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), we are bringing together developers, designers, academic researchers and working professionals to use #TechforGood.
The event features a sharing session by Industry Leaders on how technology has positively impacted society over the years, along with a "hands-on" workshop led by IBM Developer Advocates. In the afternoon, participants will embark on an ideation challenge on the topic of "Sense-Making for Emergency Response in the Smart City", with prizes to be won.
Participants can continue to develop their project in the month of July and submit their project for the Global Call For Code challenge; but unlike any other hackathon, the winners will bring home a cash prize of USD $200,000 and be working with The American Red Cross and IBM’s Corporate Service Corps to deploy their solutions on the ground to aid rescue efforts.
